Above 1200 Sq/FT building my BIG PARTY garage

Hi Don, I have read all the posts but never have posted. Been lurking for a couple years ago when I built my pole barn for ideas. Just saw the drill press and I am sure most have noticed that it is the same setup as a Snapper rear engine mower. I wonder the history of who had it first or patent...

    Over garage door storage?

Mine is a 10 ft wall and wanted just something to put things that I do not need very often or maybe ever, but light enough to get down. They are 18" x 48" and I did two sets so 16ft.

Needing Help with Shop Duct Design

I agree on the sweating. If it stayed cool in garage might not be bad but if you are moving cars in and out and it is hot outside it will sweat. Think of a glass of iced tea on a hot day. You need a coozy and some duct wrap. :-)

HVAC guys - does this quote seem reasonable?

SweetD, If the units are AC only then I think it is a fair price since he also has to change metering device, pads, flush, etc. Heat Pumps? Very good deal for you.

What is the coolest thing you have done to your garage for under $100?

Bobdog, Sorry I guess you missed the humor. I also do HVAC and I would not ever tie in a home system to the garage and yes it is against code here also. I would do a Mini Split if needed. My thought was the "waking up dead". Never seen anyone do that! Sorry to offend if I did.

What is the coolest thing you have done to your garage for under $100?

Sorry, But nothing I have been able to do has been under 100.00. Barn is up and had some land slide issues and that is pretty well taken care of for now. I did add a fridge and workbench and racks but all more than a hun. "You, my friend, must have some bad-*** mice in your area!" Last year a...

What is the coolest thing you have done to your garage for under $100?

Bobdog, Never have meet anyone yet that has done this? " could lead to everyone in the house waking up dead." :-) Personal story. I am smart enough not to run the car in the garage with doors shut but in my first house and back when I was a bit younger I had a single car attached garage. I was...

    Mixed feelings for Sears

Sears is not Sears anymore. (S) Now it is Sears Holding company. (SHLD) After Sears decided to buy some 50+ stores from Kmart and Kmart had filed for reorganization under bankruptcy protection. They then took that money and did a leverage buyout of Sears and even though the store front says...

    Mini split ductless

If I had a shop that big, I would consider a split system on each end. Just 13 Seer because amount of use. Hang them to keep off floor. Run round duct for a supply with just a curved or (rat) seal tight and 6x12x8 boots and 6x12 register pointing at approx 45deg from main supply. Keep the...

    ceiling insulation

High beam, The plastic between the metal and insulation makes sense to me and will probably do that. Can't hurt! I was really answering the part about venting the attic. Other part is my building.

    ceiling insulation

What I was told and my plan. attic needs to breath or be ventilated if putting in ceiling. I am having my barn built as I write. Adding gable vents and copula (screened but..) both covered up with the bubble foil insulation inside. When I get ready to do my ceiling I will cut away that...

Sizing a Mitsubishi mini split for a 3 car garage

Ladyver, Another note, 4200.00 online. You need a vacuum pump, gauges, possibly torch, brackets, pad, etc. The units come pre-charged for 25ft on line set. If you need more 410A you have to be certified to buy it. Lots of localities are enforcing putting the locks on the valves. So idiots don't...

Sizing a Mitsubishi mini split for a 3 car garage

Ladyver, If it is a Home D store. They do not do the installs themselves. It is farmed out just like Sears, costco, etc. Usually costs more from these people because they get their cut. Find your local HVAC installer and give him your business. He will more than likely be there if you need him...

Thermostat has no voltage (Heating Only)

Look up the brand and model number of furnace online. Check trouble codes. That flashing red light is talking to you. If you have done this and that is where you are getting the normal call for heat? Then 99% of the time in a furnace that just quits heating. Check the igniter. When they are...
