    Planning a 40x30x12 garage

Here's a few things I just did in my shop... -Radiant floor heat... Did it myself, kind of a pain to get started, but it all came together. -I buried 3 separate drains and pipe, set the level before concrete. I now have a drain for a bathroom, utility sink, and one for the boiler. -I put in...

Well, finally made some progress. I rented a little mini ex and got to work. Dug 160' of trench, laid my conduit and pulled some wire. Talk about work!! All by hand with the help of the wife. I went with the #1 AL wire, local electrical outfit worked on the price and gave me some colored tape to...

How do you waterproof the garage door opening?

I wouldn't be worried about getting the framing around the garage door wet, as long as the wood doesn't always sit in a puddle of water. I find myself spraying out the last few feet of the garage with the hose often, but I am not focusing the jet of water on the wood.

A little more progress, the guys found a couple of the metal sheets had some damage... kind of a bummer, hope there was enough metal from the same lot during manufacturing around here!! Started to dig my holes for electrical conduit and some drain lines. Ground is so hard out here, but...

Its not bad for our first house that's for sure! Its about an acre and a half. We are planning for a bunch of strategically placed trees around the building and backyard to increase the privacy a little, Those houses you see in the picture are the only ones that can see us closely.

Its just the way the picture lines up, its just the power pole and lines feeding a couple houses around me.

Perfect, because now after all this discussion about MHF, I finally found these conductors. I found that now I can go to the #1 size and still be less than the ready made. So, 1/1/1/2 now, as I didn't see a #3 available. That will be good for the full 100a right?

New here, so I thought I would throw down a small build thread! 7 years ago my wife and I moved into our first home. As standard duty as a guy, I was disappointed about the lack of a shop, as if the 40x30x12 attached three car wasn't enough...It took a little real world slap from my ol' man to...
