Tip of the cap to the 'jeep tailgate bench' from post #745…
I used 1 x 2 rectangular tube, measured and drilled on the floor and then mounted. Its just the right size work surface at 53 1/2" x 13 1/2".
I don't think covering the whole roof is necessary when you're finding drip spots here and there. Rubber roofs can be tricky and inspecting with good eyes is better than a quick scan with old ones. Any tree debris up there? Shoveling snow off recently? Or head inside and look at the ceiling...
Plywood, bead board, screwed and glued. A little poplar trim and some 'perfectly blue' from the paint store. Modeled after the old lockers and pole hole cabinets at the fire station.
Those 1x6's act as a ledger for the heavy cabinets. Plus they helped to get everything level and lined up with the studs, not to mention being my spare arm during the solo mounting adventure.
I posted in the other workbench thread, too. This is scratch built using a lot of input found right here on this thread. Thanks to all who unknowingly assisted with this project.
Scored this rock maple butcher block from a kitchen under renovation...cut down to 22" x 72", sanded and polyurethaned. Total height is 42 1/2". 2x4 construction with ledger acting as rear legs due to the stem wall. Just finished last night, and getting the same 'perfectly blue' paint this...
The double garage doors will help with space; no need to rearrange everything when you need just a little more room. Its either out the back or out the front.
I'm used to tighter spaces, so this is a Godsend. Its all about the planning, and I feel that no matter how big you build you'll always find a way to fill it up.
Garage door guy came out on Friday to measure up and show me the options. A little OT shift today takes the sting out of the...
Lots of permitting and a full foundation for New England winters. A slab would've been thick as h*ll due to the sloping backyard.
After waiting all spring for the rains to stop, the garage was this far on day one...
and this far on day two. Waiting to pour the floor, add the garage...
I'm trying for as much overhead space as possible. The garage is only 14 x 20 and has doors on each end. High lift would still track into the useable work space with a lift. 6/12 pitch won't give it a whole lot of space to run tracks.
My garage is up and I'm set on a lift in the near future. Does anyone know of a reputable dealer that can show me a quality roll-up door? I'm tired of following online prompts and unreturned phone calls. Help!
