Try Tractor Supply. I just purchased a Winchester safe from them. You can catch them on sale every so often. It is really nice. if you shop around you will see the value in this safe from TS. Good luck.
Why do I look at this site? Now I want to redo my work bench. Although I don't have the money to build one like that. All I can say is WOW. My mind is racing thinking of ways I can do this. First I would have to use bolts no welds (because i dont have a Welder) to make it easier to take apart if...
Thanks guys. It was fun to do. I am doing these restorations to try and get better so I can restore this one that was my grandfathers everyday box when he was a Ford mechanic here in Richmond @ **** Strauss Ford.
The rivets do not come with the hardware. I found some bolts that have smooth heads on them. I found them disguared at work being thrown out and because I am a Bolt & Nut freak i picked them out before they were thrown away. They work great. The original rivets are not like the ones you can buy...

I would suggest to order early. They get backordered alot. Find a box that most resembles your box. If it is not a Craftsman then you have to match them as best you can.
I got the Bedliner at Advanced Auto Parts for about 7 to 8 bucks a can. I used 2 cans with several coats being applied. It is more like paint with a texture to it, but it does the job really well. As far as the sticker I can get more if anyone needs them. Not sure what the cost is but I can...

I got this one from my Grandfather too. I tried to show all phases with the restoration. It is a 60's Craftsman 6500 hand box. It was in very rough shape when I started it But I think it turned out ok. Still learning how to do a proper restoration. I messed up the nameplate when I tried to drill...
What I would do is take a picture of the decals and take measurments of the decal as well then take it to a local sign shop and have them reproduce it. I have done this several times and they turn out awesome.
I was reading a thread about restoring a tool box and the thought came to me that there should be a place where we can put all of the threads about restoring Tools and Tool Boxes. I think that we have enough members on here that would contribute there expert opinion and suggestions. Just a thought.
Have fun with the nameplate. I tried several different ways and finally settled on a Sticker over the original nameplate and it looks awesome. Let me know if you need one. I have a couple left and I can get more. When I did mine it was the one thing that frustrated me more than anything.
They are made by Rampage. I have been looking at them for awhile now on ebay. You can buy it for around 98.00 plus shipping on ebay. I would just like to see one up close before I buy one. Just to make sure it is a good quality piece.
