Listen to my compressor bearing screaming

I'm with 930dreamer. Isolate the main components. That video was awful. Freaking nails on a chalkboard. But just by judging on the pitch, based on pump vs. motor rpm, I'm betting on the motor.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: what did you do in your garage today? Had a bad misfire on my daily driver. Took some vacuum readings. Then some compression readings. I got lucky, could have been a lot worse. No burned valves and everything else looks good, except for the leaking valve stem seals.

The one tv garage you'd like to play in

Roy Underhill's shop without a doubt. Woodworking's not my main fascination, but something about that shop just strips my stress away.

    Tips & Tricks

Re: Tips & Tricks I despise how anti-seize tends to find its way to everywhere you don't want it. So instead of wiping the excess off inside the neck, I added a small rod to keep the threads and cap clean. Put the cap back on. A good rap against the heel of your hand and all the excess on the...

    300 ft/lb torque wrench

I really wasn't in dire need of another torque wrench. 3/4" drive, 300 ft/lbs, and U.S. made. Researched the patent number 3,304,771 and it comes back to P. A. Sturtevant Company in Addison, Illinois, which I am guessing is now Sturtevant Richmont. Even if I only use it occasionally, it will...

    Republic Storage Systems (lockers)

I pulled one out of my parents garage when they moved. 48" wide x 78" tall and about 16" deep. 24 individual lockers. It's sized perfect for all my spare auto parts. My dad was going to leave it behind due to the legs being bent. Half an hour with some angle iron and the welder and I was on my...

Remline boxes, pics if you got them.

Picked this one up a few years back. Quite a stout box. Still looking for a matching lower.

Out of curiosity, how is the chuck secured to the spindle? Is it threaded or is it tapered?

    Help with vise ID?

Up to this point I have been unable to identify the manufacturer of the "mysterious V vise". I have found a few small 3-4" more traditionally shaped vises with the "V" markings, but still no names. The only ones I have seen with the art deco style casting were some smaller Stanleys. Mostly the...
