Our local APL has barn cats. They will be spade & you will half to confine to your garage until they get use to garage. Feral cats are the best as they are shy around people but will take care of pest. I have 2, they spend most of the time in the shed. HTH Tracks

Not trying to steal your thread, but I am having the same problems. A lot of my support beams have old trees with the bark on them. I am not restoring just repairing this barn, How do estabalish level with 3 different ground levels? Tracks

I would preserve barn not restore it until you have lived there for awhile. You don't have to do anything right now. If you tear it down & then you regret it, you know who's as$ to kick!!! Tracks

If you are going with oil base, You can use thinner for the first coat because it is really going to soak it up. Please don't cover with steel! I am assuming there are 1x12" with batton? Tracks

If it is farm ground, check to see if that 80 acres was tiled years ago. You might find a map of grid lines (laterals) to tie into to. Tracks
