    Sweeney torque wrench calibrator

Heavy calibrator for 100-1000 ft. lbs. Use it or use it for a decoration/conversation piece. Western PA, 16127 zip, too heavy to ship. $250 Mounted on a shop built stand. I would probably mount to the wall?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

That is a cool Ad. They list a Cambridge Springs address, which is not far north of Meadville, but I have only seen Meadville on the castings(before the move to MI). Meadvillle used to be famous, as the toolmaking capitol of the world, so maybe they used Meadville for name recognition, since it...

    Woodworking benches (head is swimming)

There are often benches on Craigslist, used, which might be an option. You might find one already close to what you had in mind, and modify it as needed. Some are sorry homeowner built, and some are very well done. Some are also salvaged from our lost industry, and commercially made.

Chainsaw Maintenance Question - Stihl MS310

Yes that is a good way to go. The rest you will remember, or is just common sense, like chain tension is best snug. Use a gloved hand to spin the chain, and don't pull into the cutting edge. Or use your file handle like a draw knife to spin it.

I have a 1C with the dowel pin jaws and they are reversible. Jason, see if your screw holes taper from both sides?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I think that is a "wagon tongue vise" made to clamp on the tongue for field smithing. They were part of the Civil War blacksmiths kit.

I don't know anything about it, but it looks like a rugged heavy duty vise!

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Re: New Vise, needed more info on it. Look at pg 524, #10466 10467. I couldn't find a lot on the company, but I did find where a college prof., that taught shop teachers, wrote a book about equipping a school shop, on different budgets. He specified this vise in all lists, no matter what the...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here are a couple pictures from a trip to the Henry Ford Greenfield village. In Edisons wood shop, was a W.C Toles #20 vise, just like the one on my bench above. The little vise pictured was in the watchmakers shop, and I couldn't tell who made it, but it had about 1 3/4"-2" jaws, and a swivel...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Earlier this summer, I saw a local auction picture, that looked like an Emmerts pattern makers vise on an old bench. I was off that day, and had things I should have been doing, but I went to the sale. Sure enough, it was an Emmerts, and also a W.C Toles rapid acting vise on the other end of the...

Have you checked your pile lately, maybe you already have one! Seriously, it is quite possible that he was involved. It would be nice to have some kind of index, and I think Dayid's?? page was started for that purpose. I would add some to it if I knew how.

I had a minute to search, since I knew I saw some paper on here. Look at Demoman's post 4073 on page 204 of the vise thread.

My first Blacksmith post leg vise...and some questions??

That looks like a good one to me. The spring is there, and the bracket and wedges. If you search Trenton on here, you will find more than you ever wanted to know. http://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/87-vises/
