I do a fair amount of cabling and use the $20 trendnet tool. I personally like the pass through jacks so that you ensure good sheath inside the crimp and cables to the tip of the plug. Those are about $12 for 100 pack. If you want to get super fancy for another $10-$15 you can get the river caps...
