Converting Garage Door to High Lift on the Cheap

Also keep in mind that number of shaft revolutions DOES probably change. These configurations use a differently shaped drum that tapers. There are lots of little adjustments to make it work. It starts to make sense when you dig in to it, or maybe when installing.

Converting Garage Door to High Lift on the Cheap

It has been awhile but I think because the weight is not taken off of the door as much for high lift you need stronger springs. For a normal opening door, once the segments of a door go to horizontal they are no longer pushing down to try to close. It is only the segments that are NOT yet...

    mini split evac setup question

Sorry I missed your posts diamondracer --- did you get it all sorted out? Sounded like you were doing pretty well when you got to 230 after 10 mins. As per the chart I posted a couple pages back, it would seem to indicate you have a "tight dry system" but I would be more confident if you were...

    mini split evac setup question

SCORE! I picked up the above pump for $88 from Amazon "Warehouse Deals" and it just arrived. It appears to be completely new and unused, and even the oil included was sealed. Tested it out and it works great, sounds smooth, pulled down to sub 100 microns very fast. The box for the unit was...

Rubber Flaps? Brushes? Best top draft stop roll up door

Have not been able to find a lot of sources for off the shelf solutions. I've decided to order brushes from American Garage Door..... going to cost me $220 with shipping and over-length handling charges to put these on the door. http://www.americandoorsupply.com/category-s/1868.htm I got the...

    mini split evac setup question

OK, been messing with the Harbor Freight vacuum pump today to see if I am going to return it and I think that I will. It just isn't pulling down as far or as fast as I think it should and it is making some noises. When I first got it, and dead-headed the micron gauge to the port, it pulled...

Rubber Flaps? Brushes? Best top draft stop roll up door

Yes that is one of the only threads I've been able to find. Good info there. Good point about the rubber flap type at the header rubbing all the way up and down. I was leaning toward the rubber flap but now I may go for the type that attaches and rolls up in the door at the top. Then maybe...

Rubber Flaps? Brushes? Best top draft stop roll up door

Hey guys, Surprisingly I'm not finding all that many threads about top draft stop on roll up steel doors. There were a few so I knew ahead of time that I'd need to deal with this. But can't find much with people talking about too many solutions. The three main options I'm finding are: (1)...

    mini split evac setup question

FYI - I went ahead and started up my unit without doing a nitrogen test -- though I must say that I do think the nitrogen test and purge would be very valuable. What I did is vacuum down my system to about 150 microns, then closed off the ball valve to the micron gauge and I "burped" the system...

    mini split evac setup question

Great idea! I have a slew of **** and am going to try to return some of it since it wasn't needed. The HF manifold set was a WASTE as those hoses are not "real" AC hoses with normal rubber gaskets in them. Fortunately I think that can be returned. I didn't need the manifold since just used a...

    mini split evac setup question

YES indeed! Just want to +1 your comments as this was the biggest surprise to me in undertaking this. So many people have posted that it is no big deal.... just a harbor freight pump and manifold and sounds like many people kick the unit on. I tried this method but ended up spending 100's more...

    mini split evac setup question

Thanks for the feedback guys. Quick update -- I installed the "NoKink" line today to replace the last 3 feet of kinked suction line coming out my wall. Also used the $100 yellow jacket flaring tool on the joint and for a new connection to the condenser. I'm thinking the flare on the kinked...

    mini split evac setup question

This is kind of what I'm ending up with. I have the HF 2 stage pump but for all I know the single stage may have worked fine. I upgraded while trying to troubleshoot my vacuuming problems. Just be sure to USE A GOOD HOSE! The CPS vac gauge I am using comes with a tee fitting that may be...
