My first job box was a 2448 and the shelf did bust with just 2 of the 1-1/2 ton hoists on it. The 3048 has travelled as pictured and hasn't broken yet. I try to unhook them for travel but sometimes forget. You can see I organise the hoists so that the heavier ones are closer to the sides to...
Those shelves are very convenient to hold smaller tools and frequently used items. In my other boxe I keep my pybars, a couple adjustable wrenches, a bottle of loctite etc on there. It saves those items from the chaos of job box life. The shelf is pretty solid but I definitely need take the...
I do millwrithing/machinery moving. This is the rigging box. Come-alongs and chains hung on the shelf. There are chain falls in buckets and ammo boxes with shackles and eye bolts and the likes at the bottom.
I have 2 more that hold the miscellaneous tools and the welding stuff but no pictures...
-When you round the head of a bolt, you can sometimes mushroom it by hammering on it and then beat the socket onto the mushroomed head. Works especially we on 12 points. Did that trick so many times on Jeep unit bearings.
Always keep a pen and paper. You can take notes, make sketches, use it as...
I don't think it would work because on you hammer drill, the chuck does both the turning and the hammering. On an sds, the bit is turned by the chuck but it is floating axially. There is a plunger inside the chuck that hits the back of the bit.
Use them installing machines in factories. Very handy for laying out the machines on the floor as it lays flat. You can also use them to draw straight lines unlike a tape
I would recommend hougen. They seem to strike a good balance between performance, ruggedness and weight. For that kind of hole you can probably use someting like an hmd904. Unless you really think you are going to need the extra capacity I'd advise getting as small as possible because the weight...
I tried a hilti 4.5 blade and i was not really impressed. They do last a long time but they don't cut as quickly or cleanly as quality abrasive disks. They are less mediocre on thinner, sheet metal stuff or grating than on the thick stuff. The main advantage is that the disks don't get any...
As a Canadian working on industrial machines, Gray tools are pretty common for me. They are more oriented towards industrial customers. The tools are rugged and built to handle the neglect of being used by people who do not pay for them. The ratchets are coarse but that usually doesn't matter on...
Unless you have a really special prescription, having safety glasses to your prescription is not terribly expensive (ie given the number of hours you use them every day). I resisted having a pair made for some time because it felt expensive at the time but it is some of the best money I spent in...
It really depends how long of a pull you need. Chain come-alongs are significantly nicer than cable ones in my opinion. Firstly, they have gearing that gives you mechanical advantage over the direct acting lever of the cable type. Second, chain is inherently more rugged than cable (it won't...
Greenlees have a very convenient shelf near the hinge. Hinges are robust and locking is simple and very secure. I like the 4830 format. Lots of cubes for the footprint
Hi,
While my business is not strictly welding (more millwrighting really), welding is kind of necessary on most projects. Keep in mind my setup is geared towards mobile work.
I have a trailblazer engine drive, an XMT 350 multiprocess power source and a miller suitcase. Both machines will run...
I've never worked in a mine but I have been contracting as a millwrights for a couple of years now. The setup I found works for me is greenlee job boxes. I have 2 30x48 and one 24x48. One of the larger boxes holds hand tools. I group like items (ie metalworking tools, electrical stuff, wrenches)...
