    My 2-Car Porcelain Tile Install....

Definitely use redgard even on small very small cracks. We only use TEC Superflex on our jobs, its kinda pricey but well worth it. If you are only using 12x24's i wouldnt worry about using a large format thinset. And yes my garage "may" have been inspired by Dakota00 haha.

Non monitored shop alarm system suggestions needed

Monitoring is cheap compared to what you have invested in everything else. But if thats not the route you want to go find a camera system that you can set crossing lines on. With the system i have at my shop i can set up alarms certain days of the week at different times that go strait to my...

Average cost per foot for a metal building?

Just got done building my new shop, i know its a little bigger but surprisingly the numbers are similar. Its 360x110 ft. So if you dont include the land, electrical, hvac, plumbing, fire sprinklers, parking lot, etc. it comes out to 28.73 PSF add the rest in and it was around $85 PSF. Still...

    Vapor barrier or no?

Must have a vapor barrier. Im having a building built for my business right now, specified in the plans that it needed a vapor barrier. Well guess what? They evidently missed that part, they already had 22,000 sq. ft. of wire laid and tied. Made em pull it up and put it down. I wasnt around...

Installation difference between 16"x16" ceramic tile vs 48"x8" ceramic "wood" tile?

Re: Installation difference between 16"x16" ceramic tile vs 48"x8" ceramic "wood" til The need for a flat floor is exponentially greater with a 48 inch tile vs a 12,13 or even 24 inch tile. It must be damn near perfectly flat in order for no lippage or voids. If your contractor is doing it...

    weird things in your garage

I have a "Wall of destruction" in the shop. Reserved for any of my friends to hang stuff they have broken. Connecting rods, bumpers, control arms etc. The wierdest thing hanging up there would probably be my buddies wedding ring. Its locked to a lock that and I tossed the key.

Please help with some Miter / Mitre Saw Cabinet ideas.

Kreg made the one i bought. I screwed the top part down from underneath so nothing will move. I cut some 45's for some extra bracing on the back side of the fence along with setting it in a dado. Its rock solid. If you go this route you will have to cut a notch out of the 45's for the track...

Please help with some Miter / Mitre Saw Cabinet ideas.

I built this a few months ago, works pretty good for what i use it for. Its really nice having a level surface on each side, the tape measure and wood stop on it are must haves in my opinion. I dont know why it so me so long to get around to building one, maybe one of these days ill get around...

    Basement floor covering

LVP is the way to go in that situation. Small waves in the floor wont be a huge deal. I have a pretty big wave in my bar room that i was worried about but its been fine. You can also use roofing felt to add thickness, thats what our guys use. Be sure to leave a 1/8 to a 1/4 inch gap around...

Tile installation, what to do with contraction joins?

There's a couple of different things you can do. Either way i would make sure the expansion joint is also a grout joint. Its not always possible to do that for every expansion joint if there is more than one in each direction. There is a product called Red Guard thats a crack isolation...

    Tell me about baseboards?

Your original trim should be around 1/2 inch above the subfloor in the carpeted area. since your laminate flooring is around 3/8 you should be fine doing the trim at the height of laminate floor. UNLESS there is underlayment under the laminate floor. Most underlayment is 1/4 inch or a tiny bit...
