    Another drill press?!

Go for it. Keep us posted, that thing's sweet. Large tables are a very good thing. I only have 4 DPs in a 14'x16' shop, plus a post drill out back. Guess I have a ways to go. Nice to keep them set up for different tasks.

Is this Craftsman 12.5" DP Taper salvageable

Sounds like you got yours a new spindle. I recently got an old Jet 13-R benchtop DP for $50 knowing the "spindle was bent." Also needed a start capacitor, easy. The taper - chuck interface was all trashed like yours but it didn't look bent. So I stuck that old spindle in my even older lathe...

    Help Identify this Caliper

Interesting. Same style as Boker who I think was originally German, with probable German name (Einstein) stamped in English. Maybe old Albert made this in his garage... The legs on mine are a bit thinner than the Bokers...

    Help Identify this Caliper

Is that directory of american tools and machinery patents? I could be misspelling something as well.

    Help Identify this Caliper

Here's an old outside spring caliper to identify the maker. All my others have two separate legs, a pivot pin, and a spring. This one is one forged piece plus the screw and nut. Pretty cool. This one I suppose the spring is a little bit tweaked since I can't close it under about 1/2" and can't...

Help Me ID This Delta Homecraft DP

There's plenty of adjustment in the motor mount, you can probably pick up a 1/2" x 36" belt locally for about $10 if the extra 1/2" is giving you trouble.

    Age of Anvil

Looks like its just getting broken in. Other than that I can't help much.

    Nazi Eagle stamped V Block

Curious if it was made as a v block for machinist workholding as I don't see anywhere to clamp it down (without a vise), or a bottom die for a press brake of some sort?

    Mystery File Help

Here's an old Nicholson file I got a while back, probably $1, looks unused. The cross section is shaped more or less like a knife, but the grind looks "factory" that is, I don't think its someone's half finished project. ALL faces and edges are smooth (no file teeth) except on the wide side...

    Drill press vises?

Here's my 6" modern Palmgren in action. At work we had 16 downlegs for a roof (not your ordinary structure). Each is about 8 ft long, 1.5" sch 40 pipe (1.9" OD). At each end there's an angled notch, with a short bit of the same pipe welded in there. The angles at each end vary, and there's also...

    Drill press vises?

I have a modern Palmgren 6" DP vise, bought from McMaster about 10 years ago. Works great, quite accurate for DP work. I also have an old Craftsman 2" DP vise. Neither have slots to bolt them to the table. This is so you can put it on its side, which is occasionally important. I use homemade...
