We have some of those ceilings. Hate them. Not sure what the point was but in the mid '70s they were the rage. If I ever scrape some im giving you a call! :)
My fav sheetrock guy suggests it is easier to just throw up some 1/4 inch sheetrock and do it over from scratch. Or he said you could...
and where do you live? lol I wanna move there!. Here Clark County is known for being, well how should we put this. Well to just be nice about it they are a pain in the A@@. If they can see it from the air and compare to see if its new they will check to see if you had a permit to do it.
Not...
Agree with c39er. Those engines have a marginal starter/battery. I have one and what a pain in the A@@ till I took it down to the local small engine shop and they adjusted the valves. ran like a top ever since.. weeelll till the governor came apart inside. :)
hmm think id have my buddy throw it on his frame rack real quick and check it out for twists etc.
250 for an alignment seems kinda high to me. But then paying 1500 for a new(to me) vehicle is about as high as I go. Unless it was a sweet 4x4 then I might go higher. Hmm but my last 4x4 suburban...
Dang that craftsman looks just like one that was my grandfathers stolen out of our shop. Never been replaced because all the new stuff I can afford is sloppy made by comparison. Still need to replace it. Let me know if you decide to sell it and live anywhere near Portland OR.

I have seen the sandwich solution previously mentioned as well. Seems to do ok as long as it doesnt get wet. The best fix is to replace the whole thing...
let me guess, Professional contractor work? :)
Sadly if it was me I would run a twin rafter right next to that one all the way back.
Now you could take a bit of a shortcut but you still want your new rafter to go back as far as possible. Jack everything in place and then glue and screw the two...

Backstory: Back in the day my grandfather built houses for his mother and sister for free or maybe cost of materials and the land. As these dear folks passed away the properties were rented out. Till my grandmother...
Wow that looks familiar. lol Only hours is heavily textured with what I call tree branch texturing. Meant to hide all the sins of the lazy sheetrock installer. :)
Irony, and typical of the **** you have to put up with as "professional":wtf: people try to take advantage of you. lol You got my vote if that means anything. :)
Cheers mate.
