Matco pinned vs pinless universal impact sockets

I use the Matco pinless as my go-to sockets for road service...they get 10x the use of any other socket type that I own, and I've never had a failure. As for the usable angle argument, the pinless are better than any pinned type I've used, but only by 10 degrees, give or take. My apprentice has...

Who makes Flare nut wrenches with long handles?

Gearwrench flex flares... The 3/8-7/16 combo is at least 8" long.

Assistance needed from old School (THINK OBD I) Toyota guys.

Save your money, and purchase a factory service manual instead. The DLC can be completely worked w/ an old school multimeter... Know the specs and procedures, and early Toy's are a cakewalk.

Best tire spoons for light truck and car tires?

Kentool...about the only name in the game, as far as manual tire tools. They rebrand for others, as well. Do yourself a favor and pass on the flea market junk...I remember an apprentice who was quite proud of himself for spending less than $30 on a set of irons, at least until the spoon end...

Snap On "SS" Classic limited edition boxes

Thanks for the replies. Stripes are going to go, and I'll make it what I want...a bigger version of my old red Matco, no bling... I do a lot of custom work, and have access to a variety of aftermarket parts - higher end stuff, which I also use on my personal vehicles. Over the years, I've...

Snap On "SS" Classic limited edition boxes

I just purchased my 2nd SO box of my life - a KRA 2422/2410 combo in flat black. The deal was good enough that I would have jumped on it had the box(es) been pink, and I've lusted over the flat black trend for a few years, waiting for the right deal. My only issue is this set is an "SS" edition...

the hotness in LCR tin snips nowadays?

Klenk is the benchmark, IMO. Malco is a distant 2nd, mainly due to the high price...often more than Klenk. Wiss makes, (made?), several different lines, and there is a distinct difference between what was/is sold @ Lowe's/HD and what's sold @ McMaster/Grainger. I have a full set of blue handled...

Auto Battery Blew Up in Shop Today

Yes, less likely. Most racing sanctioning bodies approve of gel/dry cell batteries as the standard for safety. That said, an accident like the above posts is still theoretically possible.

If you could only have one hammer?

Estwing. One piece of badass steel w/ an idiot-proof handle. Not fancy, not "cool"... yet indestructible, and made in the US!

Best pry bar if you could only have one, maybe two?

Snap On. Bonus for newer ones with the strike cap.

    Makita or Fein Grinder?

I own a Metabo 5" and 3 Makita's - 4", 4 1/2" & 7"... All are side switched - I agree w/ the poster above who pointed out that paddle switch grinders typically don't allow for as much user control... Are paddle switches safer? Maybe if you don't use cutting discs... I'll admit that I wouldn't...

    Snap-on No. 220 Socket 11/16 -- collector value?

Old school items like that have to be in pristine condition to fetch any real $$...they are only worth anything to someone who is missing a size to complete a set... So, to answer your question, no, they're not worth much as individual sockets... Always check EBay for pricing info...it's not...
