    Yet another lighting layout question

Thanks for confirming what I thought (ceiling acting as the reflector.) The ceilings are 8 1/2'. I do have adequate access to the attic to run more wire. I like the idea of adding a couple strips running perpendicular to the other three. There is a pull-down attic ladder in that area, but there...

    Yet another lighting layout question

I've read a bunch of lighting threads on this board. While they've been very informative, at a certain point my head starts to spin. Looking for some suggestions for my specific scenario: I bought my current house about a year ago. It has a three-car garage, with one bay somewhat separated by a...

Help me layout my 3-car garage!

    And here are a few pics of the progress so far: <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/37848796@N04/14312393318" title="Shop 06 by mark_havelka, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2917/14312393318_8d4e19e221_z.jpg" width="639" height="426" alt="Shop 06"></a> <a...

Help me layout my 3-car garage!

It's been a while, but I finally decided on a layout for the shop and found some time to start implementing it. Placing the shop in the single-car bay made the most sense due to available wall space. I played with a few different layouts before landing on this one: <a...

Need Some Rental (temporary) Lighting Advice

Thanks for all the useful info in this thread! I'm in the same boat as ApexSpeed - just bought a house with a 3-car garage with only two incandescent bulbs in the whole space. Based on the info above I replaced one fixture with a duplex outlet and hung two 4' fluorescent units in the single-car...

Help me layout my 3-car garage!

Ceiling height is 8'4", so not a lot of headroom, but I'm sure I can store shallow things over the Camry (scrap lumber, etc.) The boxed-in area is the water heater, though it is actually exposed. I was just too lazy to draw it that way. Thinking I might hang bicycles between the water heater and...

Help me layout my 3-car garage!

Leaving the Camry out full time is not an option, as I sold the wife on the 3-car by promising she'd finally be able to park inside....at least for now. Sounds like the consensus is to go with option 1. One of my challenges will be to keep non-garage-related things out of the garage...

Help me layout my 3-car garage!

My wife and I recently purchased a new (to us) house with a 3-car garage. I was so excited to upgrade from our old 2-car setup, I didn't pay much attention to how the garage was laid out...until now. Plan is to store two vehicles in the garage and use the third space for a workshop. Vehicles...

    "Lockable" drawer slides - exist?

Saw a guy on the expedition portal forum using these for a similar application: http://www.leevalley.com/en/Hardware/page.aspx?p=58870&cat=3,43614,43620&ap=1

    Recommend Me A Truck

You might also check-out the first generation Tundras. A buddy of mine out in NM has an '03(?) extended cab 4WD and he loves it. I think he said he gets 18-19mpg highway. It's a nice compromise between a full-size and compact truck.

Shed and Garage in Austin, TX

I spent about $1200 on the shed, including paint. I probably saved $150 or so in "reclaimed" studs and decking.

Shed and Garage in Austin, TX

Now onto the garage The garage is your run-of-the-mill early '70s 2-car 22' x 24'(?), single-door variety with attached house. The layout has slowly evolved over the last eight years, and will likely continue to do so as tools are acquired. Here are a few pics from about five years ago...

Shed and Garage in Austin, TX

Was your structure "permanent?" Mine is 3' from each fence. If the code enforcement folks come knocking, hopefully I'd just be able to point out all the other sheds in the neighborhood that are within the same distance from their fence. If that doesn't work, I'll drag it closer to the center...
