WiFi/Internet to the Workshop - Success

Cat 5e and 6 should be good for 328' minimum. If you have the ability to run ethernet cable, you should consider using Ubiquiti Unifi. I set it up in my home, and then ran a cable under ground to my barn, and installed a wireless access point (WAP). With Unifi you can have a WAP in your house...

    Aprilaire 800 installation?

Aprilaire 800 is very easy to install if you have access to 220v power and water. I installed mine a few years back with less than $700 total invested. My house is 1,400 sq feet, and is on a well. I replace the canister at the beginning of the season every year. It does get full of scale. My...

Branch feed from meter combination box to shop

You understood me correctly, except maybe one thing. For the first option with the breaker at the meter box, I would still have a main disconnect in the shop sub-panel. Thanks for your input.

Branch feed from meter combination box to shop

Heat in the shop will be radiant heat from nat gas, so no big load with that. Typical welders, large air compressor, etc. Might install forced air and ac for the loft. I want to be ready for the unknown. Thanks.

Branch feed from meter combination box to shop

Some people say I am crazy. Shop is 48 x72 with 48 x 24 loft. Loft will have 9' ceilings, and could become more than storage. Who knows what I will bring home and plug in. 200 amps for this building seems reasonable to me. Thanks for the input.

House is old and small, with all new electric. 200 amp load center with disconnect in basement. Shop will be built next month. Trying to figure all costs...

New shop in Parker Colorado looking for feedback

haha, yeah, I figured they have to follow the rules, and will not tell you any differently. When I called, I had that in mind. Got frustrated, but was polite and thanked her for her time. Never mentioned the garage aspect. Just asked about the barn limitations. People on all sides of me violate...

New shop in Parker Colorado looking for feedback

The zoning varies around us. Lots of RR and ER for the big lots. I think RR has the 3000 sq ft garage limitation. Barns have no size limit on ER. Seems like people just call them barns. I have been checking the county page for all the properties around me, and for the most part the big buildings...

New shop in Parker Colorado looking for feedback

Could you tell me who you are using for concrete? Hilltop Construction Group is doing ours. 5" concrete with fiber reinforcement and wire mesh. No rebar. I am also planning on doing the pex and 2" insulation under the slab. You must be zoned RR. We are ER with 6 acres and limited to 1000 sq ft...

New shop in Parker Colorado looking for feedback

Did you make a decision on the contractor for the building? We are on contract for a 48 x 72 Morton in Parker. We are trying to figure our heat and utilities as well. Found your thread today. Seems like we are going for the same features. Good luck with your build.

    Harbor Freight Coupon Thread

Thanks guys. Printed coupon worked at the store on Alameda ave in Aurora, Co. :rocker: If anybody is interested, that store has a 56" box that has deep scratch on the side, and the manager said she would sell for 599. Tried to talk her down to 550, but no dice. These boxes far exceeded my...

45x60 HARN Construction Nearly Complete 100 pics

Did you pour footers under the load bearing walls of your two story living area? I like what you have done, and am in the process of designing something similar with a two story internal structure. If I go with post type construction, I figured the second story would have to be supported by...
