Underslab Insulation At Garage Door Threshold

Correct, I believe that will be how the approach is laid out for the purposes of the concrete, but I wasn't sure if I should extend the underslab insulation outside of the door or cut it right where the door touches down. There is roughly 12" of concrete that will extend from the door to the...

Underslab Insulation At Garage Door Threshold

30x50 post frame in PA, 2 10x10 doors. Currently laying down the 2" XPS sheets and realized I'm not entirely sure what to do at the garage door opening regarding the insulation. Should I just piece the sheets straight across the interior door opening, or should they extend into the approach...

    Pole Barn Girt Size

Same here, that's one place I checked to see what was standard elsewhere. The original plan calls for 2x4 on 24" centers.

    Pole Barn Girt Size

My original thought was that the girts provide some aspect of structural rigidity and strength, but it appears I'm mistaken. If they're only for siding support, and have no tangible bearing on anything else, I can adjust back to standard dimensions. Glad I asked for sure!

    Pole Barn Girt Size

I'm working through the design process with my builder for a 30'x50'x12' in W Pa. Building will have 6" perma-columns 8' on center, with 2x4 girts. I've elected to move to 2x6 girts, but I'm wondering if this is unnecessary overkill. I don't want to skimp on things I can't change later, but...

Are all underslab vapor barriers the same?

Thank you for the feedback. I don't really have "set in stone" finishing plans yet, but I don't want to get years down the road and be overly restricted or regret not doing something now. A Stego rep called me back today and even though my project is definitely on their small side, he chatted...

Are all underslab vapor barriers the same?

Beginning stages of a 30'x50' pole barn in East PA, starting to collect odds and ends. Originally just planned to do a basic Menards/Lowe's 6mil for underslab vapor barrier (along with 2" XPS), but went down the rabbit hole of all different vapor barrier manufacturers and thicknesses. Are all...

Professionally installed flake floor, need help.

I recently got a 440sqft garage done, same exact style (likely same product), and it took 3x longer than they estimated to get the smell out. Even after a few days of running a fan non stop, it would still burn your lungs like you got chest punched. Had the company come out because I was...

    floor heat/ cement quote

Quote I received last week was just over $10/ft and I was happy with it. What grade of cement and what type of rebar? Does he need a pump truck to put it in?

Looking to build 40'Wx30'D Shop, looking for feedback

As someone who is anxiously awaiting the long off day to build his 30'x40', your list looks very close to my wishlist. Based on the quotes I've received, your price is something I'd be happy with given what you're getting. Please post pics of the build and final product.

Adding a Garage to a New Home - $/Sqft Inquiry

Wow time flies when you're locked down with a 10 month old ha! I really appreciate every replied, photo, and feedback, I wasn't disappointed with the detailed information. Just wanted to give an update since I've neglected this thread over the past few months and give some additional details...

Adding a Garage to a New Home - $/Sqft Inquiry

I appreciate the input everyone. Going to try and reach back out to a handful of contractors again this week. Unfortunately the pricing I received today was vague on plumbing and windows. They include "standard" but for me, and likely anyone else who is on a garage forum, standard won't cut...

Adding a Garage to a New Home - $/Sqft Inquiry

Luckily it's on a 2 acre lot on a private road, so I'm not required to match the home. I don't even think my wife would care as long at it's not an eyesore. Suprisingly, when I asked about just the shell, the price only dropped to $45/ft not including the pad or wall changes.

Adding a Garage to a New Home - $/Sqft Inquiry

Long time lurker, first time poster, located in Pittsburgh, PA. My wife and I met with a local home builder to plan out our (hopefully) forever home. I requested they price out adding a 40'(wide)x32'(deep) garage off to one side to be used as a 3 car storage/service + workshop. This is the...
