I use an adjustable wrench on alignments, but its specifically for tie rod lock nuts. But yeah vice grips would annoy me as well. So not just you.

I'm looking at this style for the adjustable height in the center. I perfer these kind over the pivot sheer pin in the center like the OTC and gear wrench. (which those work fine as well, I have one of the same style.)
