    Winterizing sprinklers

Thanks all. It is PVC but I don't think I have to worry about it getting too hot -- I'll need to run the air through 150' of hose to get there, so it should have plenty of time to cool off.

    Winterizing sprinklers

I'm in a new house with a sprinkler system and I've never owned a place with a sprinkler system before. We've got separate irrigation water, which is hooked only to the sprinkler system. Can I blow out and winterize my sprinkler system with my shop compressor? I have an 80gal compressor that...

    RaceDeck white tiles

I have the Costco MotoFloor in my garage, in black and white, which is made by RaceDeck. The white tiles don't pick up markings from car tires, other than mud/dirt tracked onto them. The white tiles do show dirt more than the black ones, but they're not hard to clean. I hose out the garage...

Help hiding hoses on a mini-split system

Those covers look great, dlc, but it doesn't say how or where to buy them :( I think my hoses are bigger than a downspout, and besides, they're already ran and attached. I couldn't thread them through a spout. The spout gave me an idea though, I may try a bit of gutter material.

Help hiding hoses on a mini-split system

I'm finishing up installing a 24k BTU Amcor mini-split AC system. It's installed, just gotta get someone to pull a vacuum before I fire it up. Does anyone have any suggestions for hiding the external hoses/power cables? There's a bundle about 3" wide running down the outside of my wall right now.

What to do about cobwebs, dead bugs, etc in the garage?

Short of keeping chickens in your garage, or rigging up some sort of mosquito net over the door, just keep up with the vacuuming. At the peak of the season I'll sometimes bug-bomb the garage, mostly because spiders freak out the wife :) If it weren't for the webs everywhere I'd be happy to...

    clear floor finishes?

I used to work for a concrete company (did the computers, so I'm not a concrete guru) and they always recommended Super Diamond Clear for coating concrete. http://www.euclidchemical.com/product_detail.asp?id=56&pselect=233&cselect=253&tselect=288#233 I've used it on a previous garage, as well...

    Who lives in the shop?

Wow, Congrats. I definitely want pics now :) Only when I've done something to upset the wife ;)

    Parts washer

I gave up on water based cleaners -- too much corrosion in my parts washer, pump, etc. Now I use parts washing fluid from NAPA auto parts. It's pretty expensive and has gone up a lot in the past few years, but if you have a filter on your parts washer the fluid will last quite a while (I get a...

Labor cost to install MotoFloor or Racedeck?

I just installed motofloor in a garage the same size as yours. I didn't keep track of my exact time for install, but I'd guess about 4 hours going at a leisurely pace. One hour of that I had a helper. I swear it seems like I spent half my time unboxing and then breaking down boxes...

Question about lights around the garage door

How about a couple of recessed lighting fixtures? If not that, maybe track lighting on either side of the door rails, and you can point the spots inward. The original post was asking how to get lights that the garage door wouldn't hit, not about adequate lighting when the door is up.

    New user from Eastern WA

Hi, my name's Tom and I'm in West Richland, WA -- or at least I will be in 2 weeks. Our new house will be ready then, including the 3 car garage. I'm used to garages about that size and have been into cars all my life, and most recently I've started a lot of reloading (pistols) in the garage...
