Not really a tool, but a lot of polishing. This is a British Seagull outboard motor circa mid 1950's. It doesn't run, the piston is very stuck, but I used it to practice polishing etc.
I really like this because apparently sometime the gas tank got damaged and the PO, rather ingeniously...
Thanks for the help guys.
Here's the cleaned version of the guard. I started using CLR with a toothbrush and it worked a little. Moved on to Simple Green, then 409 and finally powered, old fashioned Comet and a soft wire brush.
It somewhat looks too good for the rest of the restoration...
Thanks JM, I did not know that!
Does that work on aluminum? I am trying to clean up the attached jointer guard, I am not sure I want to polish it, just clean it up. Actually it looks a little worse in person that in the picture (but that's the way things work on the internet......I have heard).
Mac,
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing.
Did you do anything on the edges to elimante the small gap between the old table and the new steel plate?
Thanks again.
Don

I am rather new to vintage tools, but I can't seem to find much info on Erie vises.
Any thoughts on this vise?
Re: ★★★ voice your opinion on the hot deals forum ★★★
Ryan,Thanks for asking our opinion.
I realize now that I probably broke the current rules with my "Sears $12 Surprise Points" thread of today. I probably should have put that in the "Product and Vendor reviews" forum. I would have no...
Today 8/10, I received an email saying I received $12.00 in surprise points. I went on line and found the 208 piece screwdriver bit set on sale for 17.99. On-line I entered the order, got my $12.00 discount right up until I hit the "place your order" button. When I placed the order, the $12.00...
I have a project in work, but it's progress has stalled, so maybe this thread will give it a kick start (delayed pun intended).
I am turning a 1974 Yamaha XS650 into a cafe racer. A friend is an ardueno guy and he's helping me do all the electrical distribution using it. Speed will be a GPS...
Re: Paint scheme for the rocket.
Sentimentally I always like the P-40 tiger or shark mouth paint but that really needs an air inlet to look good. That rocket sure looks like a Swisher Sweet to me.
