Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

This is the best picture I can come up with of the pump. There appears to be some words cast into to bearing cover but I can't make them out. I shot him an offer and an just waiting to hear back.

Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

He gave me the model #, I wasn't able to find parts support online anywhere which is a concern. He's at $250, I'm holding out for $175 or $200. I feel pretty confident that I could recoup that out of the motor. If I could cross it over to the grainger equivalent they have always had awesome...

Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

I was wanting a project, but I don't wish to get burned. It is a single phase unit, I actually just called the guy and asked for the motor tag info. I figure if nothing else I'll sell the motor and then sell the tank to someone for storage.

Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

I'm sorry I haven't posted pics yet. I don't think this is a consumer grade unit. It's rated for 21.7 CFM @ 175 psi. The closest thing I can find to (current Cambell Hausfeld) it is a CE7000 which is around $2200. My original thoughts were to buy it for $200 or under and hope to have $300-400 in...

Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

Good point on the tank, I will definitely check that out. Wouldn't a new compressor like this be in the neighborhood of $1500? What would be the most I should offer? I have to be smart here and assume it's worse case scenario to rebuild it.

Would you buy a "locked up" compressor?

I've got a chance to pick up an older Campbell Hausfeld 7.5 HP, 80 gallon, 2-stage compressor for $250. The seller told me it is locked up (the motor is fine). He told me it was probably just a bent valve, which I got a good laugh out of thanks to my time spent here. Am I stupid for even...

    Table saw conundrum....

I bought a 1948 Delta Unisaw at a School auction for $450. The tilt and blade raise were both very stiff but a complete dis-assembly, cleaning and restoration Id put it up against anything. The footprint on a cabinet saw is much smaller than a contractor saw and with a good mobile base they are...

Anyone know anything about Snap-On Prism alignment system?

Eventhough the unit is Snap-on labeled I believe it to be a John Bean unit. Do you feel the same about their service/support?

Anyone know anything about Snap-On Prism alignment system?

I'm asking for my dad. He has been tire kicking on a new alignment system to use on his existing rack. He has it down between two, one being the Snap-on Prism system, the other being offered by Hunter. The Snap-on unit is roughly $6,000 cheaper than the Hunter and it comes neatly packaged in a...

Need help weighing the pros and cons of these two corded drills

For what it's worth I've had the makita for two years and love it! It's nice to have the hammer drill occasionally (think about anchoring stuff in the garage) and it might just be late at night but I'm nearly certain my makita says made in the USA.

    It's like a sickness!

Stumbled across this site by accident but it's been like a sickness since I found it. I grew up in my dads garage and worked my way through college doing alignments and front end work. After college I became a mechanical engineer and ended up becoming head of maintenance due to my love of fixing...
