    Coating for a "WORKING" garage

I'm thinking about going with the Ghostshield 8505. I just need a sealer to keep oil from penetrating on an area where we will be working on cars. Currently , I have one spot where a little bit of oil got dripped onto the concrete. Otherwise, its just got a little dirt on it. Anyone got any...

Truck topper lift - need construct ideas

Appreciate all the help guys! I think I'm going to go with the 2x4/eyebolt/strap approach. It'll be awhile cuz I need it back on my truck pretty soon so its gonna sit on the sawhorses for a little while. If anyone has any more ideas, I'll still be monitoring the thread. Thanks again!

Truck topper lift - need construct ideas

I'm thinking that just straps would put too much leverage on the sides....you know...kinda squeeze it inwards? This would seem to be mostly a potential problem on the rear where there is no cross-member like up front. I guess I could maybe put a 2x4 across the gap to mitigate the concerns...

Truck topper lift - need construct ideas

The store where I got my topper had a commercially made hoist, but the manufacturer went out of business. Perhaps cuz they were too pricey (about $400 per the guy in the shop). It too used a boat trailer winch and seems like a primo way to lift the toppers. I've got the 1/2 ton hoist, so the...

Truck topper lift - need construct ideas

Cyberbear - I dont have a place to put eyebolts directly into the shell. Is that where yours were? Perhaps a wooden frame underneath will be adequate vs steel if I put 2x4s on edge. The 2×8s flex when flat and it would seriously **** if the frame broke when lifting it up high. Rock Hound - is...

Truck topper lift - need construct ideas

Need some ideas. I have a shell on my full size Dodge pickup truck that weighs about 200 lbs. I have removed it from truck via putting 10' 2x8s under it and building some tall sawhorses and then driving out from under it. Sitting on the sawhorses, the 6'x8' shell takes up too much space in my...

Concrete level too low - Sika epoxy Hi-Mod

Shims are the alternative to getting the floor level. Its tough to get the shims right when its in the bottom of a pit. Currently, I'm grinding the high spots, still will have some fill to do. Thanks for the links. wssix99...any particular ardex product that you think would do the trick and...

Concrete level too low - Sika epoxy Hi-Mod

I am concerned about tbe strength of a self leveling product... especially as it gets feathered out. Will the stuff stay together when real thin and can it support the weight of not only the lift but a vehicle on the lift? Anyone know?

Concrete level too low - Sika epoxy Hi-Mod

Had a couple pits poured to facilitate flush mount of a Bendpak XP-7S car lift. It involves 2 side by side 6" deep pits with a connecting groove on one end. The problem is one of my pits is too deep and its not very smooth and I need to raise it anywhere from 0" to 1/2" and get it level...

Do I need wire in the concrete?

I asked a friend same question I posed here. Here is part of what he sent me off the Portland Cement Association website which is below: http://members.cement.org/ebiz55/ProductCatalog/Product.aspx?ID=263 Can fibers replace wire mesh or welded wire fabric in a concrete slab on ground? To...

Do I need wire in the concrete?

Thanks for all the help guys! Had a different contractor out today and he will be doing the job...with wire. I think wire is adequate. Its on a firm base of some sort of compacted clay, rock mix that has sat for 10 years and been driven on all along. And he'll be using 4000 psi concrete. In...

Do I need wire in the concrete?

Thanks. Isn't the purpose to hold it in alignment when it cracks? Note - I didn't say if. Does the strength of the concrete matter as to whether you use wire or not? I'm totally in the dark on this subject. Thanks again!
