Wiring help for control board conversion harness

Tommy just not sure how this particular board is designed. Depends how the software is setup to read the circuit. Sometimes it is looking at a specific pin to declare a fault, not either / or. The code "expects" one pin to provide power and another to receive.

Wiring help for control board conversion harness

I'm guessing from #1.... It appears to me that would be the 24v power side since #9 is marked as the return... But again just an educated guess.

    Friend with nordyne furnace issues.

Looks like the board has a jumper left of the thermostat inputs block to allow the board to operate as two stage with a one stage thermostat via internal algorithm, clearly says Auto Staging. Pretty common feature, makes me wonder about the crew working on it.

    Hot surface ignition kit

Honeywell sells a standing pilot to intermittent pilot retrofit kit Y8610U. Robertshaw has one as well. I'm not aware of a preassembled kit to do HSI.

4" HVAC filter in 5" housing

Supply House online has the Trion Air Bear which are well made and run close to true dims. Have the foam strips too on top and bottom for sealing. I'd ask, usually a case is three and much less likely for shipping damage. Just another option. I use 4" filters in my 5" filter box but it was...

Mr Heater Big Maxx won't ignite

Verify good ground, its critical for flame sense circuit. You test a flame sensor by unplugging from control and putting your meter in-line with it and read micro amps. Sure there's a youtube video you can follow.

How important is SEER rating on mini splits for a garage?

SEER is efficiency for AC, HSPF for heating. Depending on your usage one may be more important than the other. Yes, they generally track together, but it can be worth understanding both rating points.

Digging out root ball for foundation how big of shovel do I need

I had a similar deal with a maple, we left about 4' of stump to pull a lot out with a chain. Then cleaned up with the skid steer and a bit of shovel work. Get all you can obviously.

Shut the power off - Surge?

I can only speak to first hand observation of hvac controls. Many returns we get have visible browning areas, usually caused by power resistors aging the conformal coating over time... but while it appears damaged there is nothing wrong, its just what happens over time. Probably the number 1...

    Furnace ship date

Definitely some covid related plant shutdowns that impacted components as well as complete units. Depending on model there will be some extended leadtimes and shortages this heating season.

    What Furnace brand is recommended?

Focus on the installation company more than the brand.... Every brand has Good, Better, Best models so you need to compare apples to apples. My preference is usually the Better tier to get quality features but avoid some of the complexity and specialized parts in the highest end units. Carrier...
