    The car dolly thread

A single adult male-moderate shape-58 yr old, HF etc., do work, in fact I have had a set for years and even used them in my old (professional) shop, but...unlike Dave above, god gless ya, I can not, or I find it extremely difficult to move the car myself, let alone move it in the direction that...

    Metal buildings...yeah or nah???

Boy, have I been gone too long! I was on the site when it started, and my building went up about the same time. Don't know if you can do a search under my name that far back or not? My building is a "Kentucky Steel" building, good not great but good. Looked at multiple other steel buildings...

    Compressor opinions please.

If you want to buy one compressor for the next 20 years plus, then rebuild it IF it needs it try "Eaton Compterssors." Guys I don't think they come any better. For just over a grand you get a twin cylinder "true" 5 hp, 80 gallon tank, etc. etc. I use it hard and long "everday' all day and it...

    sound insulation for compressor

The best way that I have found is to actually box it in, a small room if you will. Insulate the room, supply fresh air to the room and if possible run the intake to the outside or even the attic if you have one. Works wonders. DV

    Ideas for Baseboard...?

Pat, I wash my shop almost daily. Trying to keep the drywall dry has always been a problem until I came up with a very simple solution. I simply get a 4'x8' sheet of marine/walmanized plywood, cut 6" wide strips and put them up then paint. You can use a different color for a border effect or...

Gargage Analysis Paralysis - What'd you do?

May I suggest you build in an office at least 10x12? Great place to keep books, to plan/order parts, keep records, displays, etc. A second suggestion is to build a insulated / clean room. Use it for storage of extra equipment such as the ramps for the lift which don't need to be out in the way...

Me equealibrium is all messed up. If I don't concentrate, It's like I'm on a small scale drunk. I keep listing and walking to the...

Eastwood has pretty good deal on 2 Devilbiss guns ($99)...

A long time, and a lot of things have appened since this post was put up. I have now used the gun and my thoughts are; for the money they can't be beat. I just did a custom paint job on a motorcycle and used these guns exclusively. The paint is a HOK paint and ended up being a 'tri-coat'...

What to hang parts from for painting?

A quickie and cheap idea that I have used for years; a 3/4 steel pipe hung from the rafters or what ever is stong enugh to hoist and hold a 9" rear end up, or a lot of small parts. If you have a lot of parts to paint like I do once in a while, drop another pipe down from the frist one a couple...

Eastwood has pretty good deal on 2 Devilbiss guns ($99)...

HVLP is a whole different type of spraying over the old siphon system. I suppose it would have the same learning curve though. Practice, practice! Heck, I got started out so many years ago by painting all the neighbors cars for free. I only charged them for the materials and "a" tool that I...

Mopar, The main gun in the kit uses a 1.3mm needle and the small touch up gun comes with a .8 mm tip. They also included a 1.8 mm needle for the larger gun for heavy bodied primers. (The larger needle is below the 'toothbrush' in the picture. More needles and air caps are available from any...
