Whats the "official" Cman warranty deal with Lowes?

go to Habitat and check out their sockets- the one in town here has three large buckets of sockets, many of them Craftsman, Proto, Blackhawk, etc, in great shape. I bought a 17mm the other day for 50 cents. Inventory changes daily, so don't give up too soon...

Buying mountain property, questions to ask?

I also wanted to live in a cabin in the woods, on acreage, etc. I have been retired for about 10yrs now and live in a mountain town...in a RENTAL on a golf course! With everything mentioned in these posts, plus the way the weather is changing these days, I think it is most important to be able...

    In need of vise jaws

That 5% is going to cost you probably 80% of a one hundred dollar bill- probably more than the cost of the entire vise. How about a picture of your vise?

removal of tamper proof deck screws

How big is your wallet? You only have to remove 1 board, probably held down by 4 screws. Heat the screws with a torch, then lift the board out- the threads aren't that deep.

Identifying a beat up 4" bench vise

The red vise I posted is a Wilton, with a U-shaped slide. That is what I was comparing to the old red Craftsmans. I now see what you are saying-the OPs vise has a square slide, I think some people call them "pseudo Bullets!"

Identifying a beat up 4" bench vise

It looks like a Wilton. Even if it is, it is only a light duty homeowners grade vise, similar to the old red Craftsmans from the 70s-80s. I've had both- I prefer the old Craftsman.

    Old 6" vise identification

ya, start somewhere else. It appears to be a made in China drill press vise- maybe worth $5, IF you need that style vise.

    can this Wilton be saved?

This is the kind of fix I would expect from a Texan! As a fellow Texan, I really appreciate the "direct approach" to fixing things like this. I figured if a ghetto fix did not work for this vise, it was going to the scrap pile anyway. Thanks.

    can this Wilton be saved?

Found an old Wilton vise with a "misaligned" moving jaw. The slide is straight, but the head is at angle that doesn't allow the main screw to fit thru the opening. Is there any ghetto fix for this, or is it headed for the junk pile? I know it is only a lightweight vise, but the prior owner sure...

which in-lb range for torque wrench?

I have read that a torque wrench is most accurate in the middle of its range, so pick the one that fits your needs. It all depends on what you are working on, and whether that much precision is really needed. I work on mountain bikes that have some low torque settings, but snug, hand tight, hand...

Toolbox with drawers that go all the way across?

I have looked at a few used boxes with full width drawers and 37"-40" width (Craftsman, Biuepoint, and Mac). It always seemed that the drawers tended to sag enough to rub on the drawers below them. Once that happens I don't think there is an easy way to fix them. I went back to a 2 bay style...

    Did Craftsman ever make this?

do what the rest of us Craftsman guys did- get the HF 24" breaker bar. It works great, and almost looks like a CM bar anyways...And HF is still in business.
