Above 1200 Sq/FT Barn Build Thread

Aluminum work is not my best line of work, but it turned out pretty decent, not bad for someone who has only done small projects. It's tedious and time consuming but very rewarding. Having a square building and a break helps a lot. Anyone ever had to straighten walls between posts? The last two...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Barn Build Thread

Fall of 2021, I was able to dry it in before winter thankfully. I knew it was going to be a little while before siding and I'm still curious how many staples we used to fasten the house wrap to the plywood, it was a LOT. All I know is it was never a problem and I never had to re-staple any of...

LOTS of plywood! This was super exciting getting it closed in. Almost weather tight.

It's September 2021 and it is coming to life! What a muddy mess it was the day we set trusses! It was slick sticky clay, the WORST! We had pounds of mud stuck to our boots, sliding down the hill, what fun! haha It is super exciting seeing this dream being built.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not "in" the garage but close. Shoveled some snow last night - outside of the garage. Higgins Lake, Mi

    Making a Closable Ridge Vent

I agree, leave the inside sealed. Great idea but I don't see this being a long term one. I like the gable power and static vent idea, think about the average natural wind direction and install the power vent accordingly. 👍

40x80 home/barn/garage (planning phase, I have rough designs)

This sounds sweet, looks well thought out. My brother is building a barndo right now, very similar in size. He did footings and stick build construction. Personally I wouldn't the master right at the top of the stairway. I'd put it along the far side. I'll bet you'll have some beautiful...

    Assembling foam panels?

It sounds like budget friendly is the most important driver of the decision process, next sounds like ease for 1 person to do sections at a time. Cut down the foam you have to fit between the joists. You'd just have to make a seam wherever you have wires but you'll have plenty of seams anyways...

Above 1200 Sq/FT Barn Build Thread

Awesome story! I aspire to be 60 and building. This is October 2018, my son Jase. He's 3 here, helping build the deck on our nearly finished home. We started building in March and moved in Thanksgiving weekend! I was my own General Contractor and did roughly 70% of it with friends and family...

Need guidance related to my garage door

+1 I thought of very similar questions. From my experience, you get what you pay for. There are very budget friendly doors that will work just fine and there are doors that will operate quietly, insulate and seal better, look better, possibly have windows (lights). It's situational and someone...

    Barn heat options

That's great! What size is your garage? I'm feeling more confident that the wood furnace is the way to go. I just recently started a build thread. I'm playing catch-up since I started the project in 2021 but follow along, one of the projects I did a year ago or so is refurbish a wood furnace a...
