Repair shop without being registered as a repair shop.

I have a solid background, currently work as a BMW tech, and have worked as a tech for 20 years. I want to transition away from the daily flat-rate grind and just do automotive repair on the side, working out of my home garage. I will be fully equipped with a lift, tire machines, etc. Only...

    Toolbox with a hutch?

Thinking of getting a bigger box to replace my old Snap on. Looking at the Tool Vault 84" roll cab from stricklytoolboxes. I can't decide if the hutch is really necessary though? Doesn't seem like it really serves too much of a purpose other than you can leave tools on top of the box and just...

    Cost for 20' x 30' x 12' steel building in upstate NY?

Is it possible to come in under $20K for a slab, uninsulated steel building, and all installation/labor costs?

    Is this safe?

I have a 6000lb Bendpak scissor lift. It's an "open center" design, so two scissor assemblies, one on each side. I bought it for my car but can't use it for my truck because the frame rail spacing is too narrow and won't make contact with the lift. Is it safe to get two pieces of 1/4"...

Harbor Freight 1/4" drive torque wrench - are these just garbage?

It's not that cut and dried. For example, low torque stuff like 1/4" sockets, HF may be all you ever need. Why would you pay $300 for a set of SnapOn 1/4" sockets, when the HF ones cost less than $30 and will probably never break?

Has anyone else had a nightmare experience with Bendpak?

The lift has a total of four of these cylinders, all with the same #. So I don't think all four are labeled wrong. And even if they were, Bendpak still has not managed to even send a matching number. Bendpak :bigun2:

Has anyone else had a nightmare experience with Bendpak?

My brand new MDS-6LP scissor lift blew a seal after raising it up and down three times with no car. I call bendpak for a replacement cylinder, they ship the wrong one. I express my disappointment, and they overnight ANOTHER wrong cylinder. This is all after submitting detailed information...

Bendpak lift problem, one side raises, other side lowers simultaneously!!!

Funny you should say that. One of the cylinders just blew the seal out after raising the lift 3 times. Plus, I now have to wonder if the flow divider is screwed up from being hooked up wrong (it matched the schematic in the manual). I can't even begin to express how pissed off I am.

Bendpak lift problem, one side raises, other side lowers simultaneously!!!

They claim the cylinders are "self bleeding".

Bendpak lift problem, one side raises, other side lowers simultaneously!!!

FLOW DIVIDER SCHEMATIC WRONG!!! I switched connections and now it's working. Just have to hope nothing got screwed up now.

Bendpak lift problem, one side raises, other side lowers simultaneously!!!

$2700 and this is what I have to deal with. What a joke.

Bendpak lift problem, one side raises, other side lowers simultaneously!!!

I bought the MDS6K and have gotten to the point of filling it with ATF and attempting the bleed procedure, which is to simply raise and lower the lift several times. What is happening is only one side raises. The other side won't begin to raise until the other side is maxed out on height. But it...

The Snap-on vs. Harbor Freight Debate - taken to a new level

The Pittsburgh Pro 1/4" ratchets have finer teeth and less back drag than a 1/4" Snap On ratchet.

The Snap-on vs. Harbor Freight Debate - taken to a new level

Snap On prices are for suckers; it doesn't matter how nice the tool is. Even the best products can be overpriced.
