Yes, and most of them have realized the problems caused by flux and switched to shielding gas. Stick welders still use flux but they don't have to feed the rods through anything. How many welding shops even have a flux cored machine on their premises? Perhaps an indication that gas welding is...
Anyone have any experience with ultrasonic thickness testers. I want to purchase one to check the cylinderwall thickness in some engines. I know they are pretty simple to use, but I'm looking for Brand recommendations.
You can find them on Ebay. This one is about $5 but you can find "Snap On" for about $24. Thats why I like not worrying about brand names.

I have another workbench on the other side of my shop where I put several Craftsman top boxes. They have a lot of drawers. I had 4 identical boxes and had one each for Metric wrenches, Metric Sockets,Std wrenches,Std sockets.
I have a ton of wrenches and sockets I have picked up over the years...
Auctions have personalities. If its a large company going out of business, expect dealers to be there. You can also expect there will be a lot of stuff that they aren't interested in and its perfect for a home shop. The smaller shops that go out of business often have good competition for items...
Here is my way of doing things. I gave up a long time ago on having nicely matched sets of tools as they always have mismatches or missing sizes, or don't have the larger sizes you need.
Instead of storing wrenches in different holders, I use a drawer for each wrench size. I put all my 9/16...
As an old machinist I will tell you that when digital calipers first became available, everyone wanted one. Subconsciously people felt that there was no way they were going to misread them and scrap a part. After a while when they began to fail and have glitches, most went back to conventional...
I just bought some off Amazon for about $16 for 6 rails. They have several brands that all look the same, so you have to watch which one you pick to get the right colors. I plan to bolt them in my tool drawer. What I like is that they don't have sizes that end up not matching your socket...

Buy the Primeweld off Amazon and learn how to use it. It will be cheaper than the spool gun in the long run and then you have oter options as well. Bout $700 I think .
My understanding is that you may be able to use the 3 phase starter that came with your compressor and save the cost and hassle of replacing it. They aren't cheap. Supposedly if you disconnect what would be the extra 3 phase wire inside, it operates just like a single phase starter. Don't...
When many people want to learn to weld, they don't want to spend any real money......in case they turn out to be totally incapable and have to eat the cost.
Anybody can Mig weld.....you CAN do it. Don't get caught up in whether all your welds are going to be works of art. Most amatuer welder...

Might want to get that OCD evaluated.
I do admit the diversions into absurdity are fun, especially when they are used by you as proof of personal awesomeness.
Glad you noticed. At least you can recognize that someone shouldn't cast aspersions when they are clueless about...
