I was using 6013.
Hmm... Good thought on deliberately sticking it to the extractor, I hadn't thought of that. It came off pretty easy when I accidentally did it to the coupons, but that was with some twisting (would definitely be stronger pulling straight up). Might even be able to go up a size...
Not quite yet - haven't had any time until the last couple of days, so it's just been sitting out in front of my garage.
Ended up tracking down my TIG welder I'd bought years ago and never used. It has stick functionality, so haven't ordered a MIG welder yet. Figured I'd try welding a nub onto...
Thanks for the replies, all!
Been thinking about it, and given how deep the hole is, does anyone have any recommendations of malleable, non-metallic sheet material I could cut and put around the wall of the hole to keep the electrode from coming into contact with anything but the bolt at the...
I'm 2 for 2 on stuck bolts in engine mount brackets whenever I've gone to do a timing belt. Had occasion to do the timing belt on my Saturn Vue this week, and been having some "fun" with one of the bolts.
The last bolt getting the engine mount bracket off felt different. It would turn, then...
Thanks, for the replies, all! Sounds like for squareness of cuts (of importance to me), the 4x6 has the advantage. That alone is good enough reason (on top of not spending more money) to just stick with what I've got.
Hello, all,
I picked up a harbor freight 4x6 horizonal/vertical bandsaw a year or two ago, and am just now revisiting it (stuff came up before I had a chance to unbox and use it).
Floor-space is at a premium at this point, and I'm starting to wonder whether I should go with a portaband with...
Thank you - that's a good point about operator error from viewing and. Does dial type not need calibrating either, or is that only a benefit of deflection beam?
Hello, all,
I'm looking to get a reliable in/lb torque wrench. The immediate use case is valve cover bolts (90 in/lb), but would like something that will be reliable for future uses too. I've read that they can be useful on motorcycles (and, by extension, probably on dirt bikes, which I've got...
Thanks for the replies, all!
In the end, it turned out the fasteners needed to be 3/8", and with the small diameter came shallower holes (2"). My brother came over and we tried to use his Milwaukee M18 hammer drill. It did manage to drill a couple of those holes, but it burned through battery...
Thanks, all! That's what I was afraid of, after the episode yesterday trying to mix concrete in a 5 gallon bucket with it (didn't go well :lol_hitti). Looking at rental costs, I could get a Bauer from HF for only 2x the cost, and have it for future uses.
Along the lines of future use, any...

Hello all,
I have occasion to drill about 16x 1/2", 5" deep holes in solid concrete in a couple weeks for anchoring a patio roof kit my parents bought. I have one of the Milwaukee M12 fuel...
Hello all,
I purchased a WD1851 (6.5 HP, 16 gallon wet/dry vac) from Home Depot on Black Friday. I was out of town that weekend, so did in-store pickup.
Well just this evening I finally got around to putting it together, and partway through realized they'd passed off an HD1800 as a WD1851...
Hmm... says code "PICKFAST" is expired when just went to use it on 2557-20 3/8 m12 ratchet from CPO. Is that because I've used it already, or did it expire earlier today?
Also, what's a good deal on the 2557-20? $120 (140 - 15%) seemed alright comparing it to full price at the places.
I see that also works for 2555-20 from "Factory Authorized Outlet" ebay store. Are they any good, and are their claims of full factory warranty true?
Edit: screw it, good reviews and it is listed on Milwaukee dealer list (not sure whether ebay stores count too). Bought it.
