    Lowes/Kobalt hot savings thread

I was hoping that a lot of the deals would still be good after the new year, but everything that I clicked on from earlier in the thread is back up to full price (double). Oh, well, it's not that I had to have some of it, but I would have bought quite a few things at half off. Ed

Adjusting tension on Gearwrech flex head

I exchanged the set at the place of purchase with no problem. I bought the set from a relatively small True Value store and they exchanged them without issue. All the flex heads on the new set are about even tension- maybe a little more on the larger sizes than the small, but that's what I'd...

Adjusting tension on Gearwrech flex head

Based on other users' experiences and my own so far trying to adjust the set screw, I'm not going to try to fool with it any more; I'm going to take it back. Ed

Adjusting tension on Gearwrech flex head

Yes, I tried oiling it, but it seems to be way over-tightened. I thought the purpose of the set screw was to allow for adjustment if they loosened up over time. If I can't budge the set screw, I'll exchange it. This is part of the $29.97 set from TrueValue that was posted in the Hot Deals thread...

Adjusting tension on Gearwrech flex head

I just bought an SAE set of Gearwrench flex head wrenches. I have some other sets in metric, of the X-beam flex and regular flex, which are fine so far. On one of the wrenches in my new set, the tension on the flex head is way too tight. It's very difficult to move the head. I thought that the...

    Dear Snap-on QC Department

Does that law apply here, though? Maybe not, as I was not pointing out a mistake made by a previous poster, but made the mistake while giving a further example. I'd better be careful. Prospective employers already comb the internet (not always capitalized anymore) looking for their candidates'...

    Dear Snap-on QC Department

I hesitated to post a reply to this thread for fear of starting a flame war, offending people, and getting lots of hate mail, and I'm a new forum user to boot, but here goes anyway: I do think that the original post is funny. You would expect that someone would check the spelling of something...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

No, the one I'm referring to was posted a few days ago- this one: http://www.lowes.com/pd_338524-22328-85188_0__?catalogId=10051&productId=3364140&UserSearch=kobalt+51-piece&Ntt=kobalt+51-piece&N=0&langId=-1&storeId=10151&rpp=48 Ed

    HOT DEAL Index!!

No, still coming up at $19.98 in Utica even when I add it to my cart online. I don't need it so bad that I can't wait for the price to drop near me. If I miss out, it's no great loss. Ed

Are Gearwrench's X-Beam Ratcheting metric wrenches worth buying?

The packaging on these, and I believe all of the ratcheting wrenches from Gearwrench, say that they are a precision instrument and not meant to break free frozen fasteners. Though it certainly makes it easier to abuse them given that you have a more comfortable grip. I, too, was tempted by a...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

Home Depot Husky 10-pc universal combination wrench set (spline) SAE or metric is $15.00 in my store, but still shows $19.88 online. I bought one set of each at the store. They also have a set of mixed SAE and metric (I think 14-pc, but they're not with me right now) for $10.00. They only go...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

I've been following this thread pretty closely for a few weeks now, and I still dont' see where anyone has posted how they've got the Lowes 51-pc. 1/4 drive set for $14.95 instead of $19.95. I've even tried searching the same zip code area as one of the posters who got it for the lesser price...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

Part of that set looks much like a set I got from Harbor Freight recently. The screwdriver handle and bits seems identical to the HF one except for the color. Ed
