Thanks for the pic of the old Komelon tape measure deal. I found some sitting on a shelf in the store today and remembered seeing the posting and they where $7.98.

I suspect you're right on it being pre-Ideal, since that's not a valid item number on SK's site now.

I snagged the same set from ebay for about the same price and I've been real happy with it. I noticed a while back Sears had the matching SAE set too, and it comes with a couple extra goodies (u-joint and 3/8" adapter).

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00999546000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

So what's the skinny on this (pre-Ideal), has SK gone downhill?

In regards to the sets posted above, I have most of my sockets at work on those style organizer rails, and I think they're very nice. I am sitting here right now trying to not order those two sets, as my sockets here at the house are pretty low grade.

Chalk another Grainger 1/2 pivoting ratchet sale from Thanksgiving in the win column. Picked mine up earlier today. They were waiting for me with no shipping charges at the local Grainger store.

I picked one of the metric sets up a few weeks back. It's a really nice set. One thing to note is the ratchet is not the one pictured but it's still nice!

I know a lot of guys talk about this Bondhus Hex set some even over the Wiha set that was recently had for $15 bux.

I coulda swore this set was $25 at the time, I remember some saying it was a little more than the Wiha set but well worth it.

Well now I notice that its $15.84 & eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00012Y38W/?tag=atomicindus08-20

If anything, its made in the USA. I got my Wiha set and am really happy with it. Call me crazy but I'm tempted to get this set as well.

Edit: after looking it up on price tracker its the most expensive its ever been. Nevermind, I fail. lol

If you already have the Wiha L keys, and are eager to try Bondhus, what about their ball drivers or T-handle drivers? Nice quality for the money.

I got the metric and standard set of t handles from HF recently to get me by till I get a decent set. When I get my workbench situated I would like to get the Bondhus T handle sets. They are over 12 inches high, won't fit in any of my toolboxes especially my new 5 drawer service cart. And the 3/8" set is 13.50 inches tall. But there's 4 sets I'm looking at that would look very nice sitting on a decent workbench some day in my garage.

Here is an IR 2130 that is at 550ft lbs for $126. For 45 bucks more, I would recommend the 2130. Looking at its price history, it is at its lowest right now. If you can afford it, you can't beat an IR 2135 but they're $250.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002UNR6W/?tag=atomicindus08-20

That is tempting too, (The IR 2130) but I really don't need another 1/2" impact.
Do you think that is a better impact (stronger, I assume it is lighter) that the Old Style HF Earth Quake's?

Ran across this at Lowe's today only good up to 22ga but at that price had to have one of each:)

photo.JPG

OP, how's about posting what it is?

Item #298193 & 299216

In any case, these are Wiss Offset Tin Snips (left & right) for $5.99. Made in the USA too! And they will cut thicker than 22ga as I tried it on a metal roof panel

I saw them yesterday and of course came home with the only set in the store. It does look like the price is good in store only.

Lowes has a $10 off $50 coupon in the 16 pack of Energizer AA batteries. Needed batteries for the kids christmas presents anyway, so the coupon was a nice bonus.

And just recv'd a call from Grainger, my 1/2" flex ratchet is in. I gave up and figured it wasn't coming in.

Be advised that those coupons expire 12/31/11... only a week or so left to use them.

MSC has one of their better promos now thru 12/23. (25% percent off your entire order and free shipping if you order 7 or more different items - no $ minimum).

The beauty of this promo is that it's easy to find very inexpensive filler if you have problems getting to the 7 items.

Coupon is MERRY25W

Thought I'd update you all on the Wiha deal. I don't know the specifics but saw two T Handle Torx wrenches on my order sheet with a 0.00 charge after the item's cost.

They'll have a .I after their number. I called because I hadn't ordered them and there wasn't a charge. They are a promotion item that I had been "gifted." I thought that was exceptionally cool.

The tools should be here tomorrow. I'm excited to see the freebies. That rarely happens and it's neat to see.

For the Atlanta area members, Sears in Marietta GA is clearing out their inventory due to their building changing to a K-Mart. All of their tools are 20-30% off depending on what it is. All other departments are discounted too.

I talked with the cashier there and she said that after Christmas they will probably lower the prices further depending on what they have. They have until Feb 1st before the liquidators come in and sweep the remaining stock up.

Certainly not comparable to a Black Friday deal or anything like that but could be helpful for anyone in the area that needs something from Sears.

4269 Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA
Johnson Ferry Shopping Center

The cashier there knocked a couple extra bucks off of my final price too.

Check the prices though as some deals are still better on their website

Wiha is wising up. The freebies you received are part of any over $50 offer. Previously, you had to add them to your cart using an incredibly well-hidden "free stuff" button on their homepage.

Enough GJ members missed the button and wrote to Wiha after their orders were sent and had them add the freebies (which Wiha was happy to do) that they must be doing it automatically now.

I have the 2135TiMax and there is nothing it can't break loose. If you want to buy one impact wrench to last your lifetime and will bust nuts loose that are torqued down to 1000ft lbs, spend the money and get a 2135TiMax. I can't say anything about the earthquake because I've never used one. But the IR is what you see being used in Nascar and many commercial auto shops.

That is tempting too, (The IR 2130) but I really don't need another 1/2" impact.

Craftsman seems to have thier 8 pc Metric Full Polish Cross Force wrench set on sale for $40. This is down from the regular price of $80 according to thier site. Not sure if they're US made or not.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00946521000P?prdNo=15

Bought that set and the SAE set about 2 months ago when they went on sale for $40 each... good quality chrome, like the pros, stamped USA... Well worth the $$ if you need a set.

Those Wiss snips are $10.** at the Lowes I stopped at today. They caught my eye but passed on them at $10 but would have got them if they were $5.**

Ditto for me. I was picking up some sheetrock and figured I'd check on them. If they go down, I'll more than likely grab some.

Nope.

Allen, like Channellock, has a bunch of inexpensive crappy screwdrivers... found that out the hard way.

I was walking down the aisle at Menards the other day saw a huge Channellock screwdriver set package up on the shelf with a yellow sale price tag of $18. I screeched the brakes on my feet stopping to check it out and sure enough. Looked like a 18 dollar set of screwdrivers unfortunately :( Turned the package over and sure enough. "Made in China"

Part of that set looks much like a set I got from Harbor Freight recently. The screwdriver handle and bits seems identical to the HF one except for the color.

The Channellock screwdrivers are much nicer than the Allen ones I bought, too :(

My allen branded one does say usa on the screwdriver shaft. I dont think it is 100% usa made though. Sockets and bits are imported im sure but still strange to see usa on it. Allen driver does look identical to the HF one just different color scheme.

+1. Sometimes the difference between a stuck bolt and a busted-loose bolt is the difference between a good impact and a top-of-the-line impact.

My 1/2" HF earthquake couldn't get the crank bolt off a 1.4l Honda Civic. We ended up having to fashion a very interesting crank pulley holder :)

could have been user error though ;)
