Added to my metric set a collection of ratcheting wrenches. Armstrong reversible and regular ratcheting sets, minus the elusive 15mm reversible. This should make my metric drawer complete-ish. Well, you never know...
I like the Armstrongs since they are the only ratcheting wrenches made in...
Picked up a set of Sunex long needle nose pliers at Amazon. And on a whim picked up a set of torx bits for $10 and wrench sockets for $13 at my local Sears outlet. Seems to be the only place you can still get US made Craftsman (well, non Industrial anyway) aside from eBay. Can beat the price!
AV tinker er, thanks for inserting a dispassionate, rationale bit of opinion to the discussion. A lot of emotions come to the surface in this kind of discussion (understandably), but when that happens the facts get muddied.
There is a paradigm shift going on in American manufacturing. Not all...
You really owe it to yourself to read the whole thread through. When I was first learning about Nepros (by reading posts from guys like ricleh and jk47) I must have read it through at least 3 times. They have a lot of experience with Nepros and have a wealth of knowledge to share. Now I own...
Another good source is Zoro (that's where I got mine). It's not the easiest website to navigate, but there are always discount codes out there for Zoro.
You can find the specs here:

It is obviously important that you pick mounts for which your compressor is not too heavy. But it is equally as important that you get ones for which your compressor is not _too light_. If you don't have...
After a week of waiting for shipment of my disconnect switch...
...and a couple other odd parts, I finally got my new compressor up and running.
It is sweet - true 5 hp motor, auto-drain...
...magnetic starter, all USA made except a couple pipe fittings that clearly say China on them...
I just took delivery of a new Saylor-Beall true 5hp air compressor (Baldor motor, see pic). I've run a new circuit to my panel with 8-2 and a 40amp breaker (probably only need 30, but 8 ga. can handle 40).
I was looking for a safety disconnect switch to which I can hard wire it. At Menard's...
Indeed. The Emerson motor on the Husky went kablooey, leaving me with no compressor (aside from my little pancake Porter-Cable that can power a nailer but not much else). I finally had the excuse I was waiting/looking for to get a new compressor.
I will probably replace the motor on the Husky...
Took delivery of this bad boy yesterday.
- Compressor, tank, motor - all made in the USA.
- I went to Menard's to pick up a GE disconnect for hard wiring it - made in the USA.
- Ran wire for a new 40amp circuit (probably overkill - could have done 30amp) - 8-2, made in the USA.
- Picked up a...
Finally completed my collection of 6-pt Proto SAE sockets - 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" std and deep. The std 3/8" are obviously 12 pt. I already had 6 pt set of Nepros, so I didn't need 6 pt Protos.
I also picked up a couple Japanese tools: a Koken Attack Driver
...and an Engineer brand pliers...
Grey Pneumatic 3/8" impact set. These should come in handy with my Bosch impact...
These are the first Grey Pneumatic products I have owned. They seem to have nice thin walls and a nicer finish than I am used to for impact sockets. I wish they were stamped with the size, not just printed, but...
