    Liftmaster 8500 easy unauthorized entry

I've got an 8500 as well, and recall that you can either use a "smart" controller (like the 888LM), or a traditional button. I'd take a look at where the water is hitting the back of the controller to see if it's simply shorting out the control wires and triggering the opener. If so, I'd find...

    Installine POE Cameras

I was unaware the GigE auto-negotiated crossover, at least when it comes to devices (like NICs, or that camera... whose controller is likely bottom-dollar). GigE switches have auto-negotiated Tx/Rx channels for quite a long time, though.

    Installine POE Cameras

Lots of solid info in here. pobinga also did a great job of explaining PoE (an unused pair of wires provides ~48v DC power to the endpoint). Based on the camera model info you provided, it does have an external 12v power input (presumably a barrel connector), for which they may or may not have...

    MaxJax owners: placement considerations?

Given the size of your garage, I'd go as wide as they recommend (135" is the widest I see mentioned in the manual). I can't see a downside to extra space for doors, etc, if the space allows for it. I've ultimately decided to set mine 135" apart, but with the effective "bay" centered in the...

Moving to new house, big garage but no door, suggestions?

How large is the opening? If it's reasonably similar to a standard size (16x9, 16x7, etc), it should be easy to source and install a door (new or used, depending on budget). Shrink the opening as needed with 2x4's or whatever matches existing framing.

    MaxJax owners: placement considerations?

One last question: are the frame cradle pads worth the investment for vehicles under 5,000 lbs? https://www.maxjaxusa.com/frame-cradle-pads.html Most cars I work on are unibodies, but ladder frames will occasionally find their way into the garage.

Garage door insulation kits? Which to buy for a clean look?

I feel ya there. Beware that beyond R-7 or R-8, pretty much any higher rating is going to be BS. You're ultimately limited by the thickness of the door, not the material density. At least that's my understanding.

Garage door insulation kits? Which to buy for a clean look?

The cleanest solution is obviously to buy an insulated door. Not cheap, though... Overhead Door quoted me ~$2,000 for a 16x7 fully installed (using my existing opener). I went with the Owens-Corning kits, and installed 2 strips of hanging strap (using self-tapping sheetmetal screws) along...

What do you use to store your camping gear?

I've always had aspirations to refine the kit to fit into 2-3 mid-sized Pelicans, which may be given priority soon thanks to a friend talking me into doing the Texas Water Safari with him. Currently, though, I use a pair of 8-gallon Rubbermaid ActionPackers for core gear (one for lights, fans...

    Should I repaint or replace?

I had the windowed top panel of my garage replaced with a solid panel years ago, and in order to keep costs down, I just opted to use whatever the installer had laying around... Turns out, he had a white panel, and the rest of my door was almond in color. Ended up taking an exterior paint...

    MaxJax owners: placement considerations?

Thanks for the input, guys. 97dynaglide - That's a really good point... Honestly, I'd have to remove some shelving anyway to accommodate it, but would be leaving a 24" deep set (where large tools like the table saw, chop saws, etc are stored) in-place that would undoubtedly make it a pain to...

    MaxJax owners: placement considerations?

Hey all, I've got a 20x20 attached garage (with a 6x11 extension in the back-right corner, as seen from the driveway), and finally pulled the trigger on a Dannmar M-6 as a birthday present for myself. It arrives early next week, and although I've read through a number of install threads/posts...

5/8" OSB 24" OC in the attic

I did 1/2" ply and learned that you want to orient the grain perpendicular to the studs... When parallel, there is absolutely noticeable flex, but no problems have resulted. The perpendicular pieces I laid later are way, way more solid.

Metri-Pack vs Weather-Pack usage on OEM wiring harnesses?

Very nice, thanks for the offer - any chance you offer the same in Metri-Pack or Molex GT/MX-150? I basically want to establish a garage kit for pretty much any weather-proof/sealed electrical connector I may come across. Seems like BMW and Mopar/Jeep predominantly use Metri-Pack these days...

Metri-Pack vs Weather-Pack usage on OEM wiring harnesses?

True, that covers the connector style (EV6), but I’m looking at the actual crimp-on terminals and seals. Seems like the OEM harness crimped-on terminals are Metri-Pack (based on photos), and the aftermarket EV6 connectors I purchased use Molex MX-150 terminals and connectors... Looks like I’m...
