There is a chemical thaat ive used for getting this off before setting tiles.I have to check in the van for the name of it.It is messy but it worked really well and you just clean up with water or they have a cleaning solution as well.

I would get a chemical cleaner for the grease and oil,but you dont want one that will leave any residue.It is all in the prep as any holes and dimples will show thru.If you have any questions feel free to ask I have been doing this 20plus years.

To reduce the "clack" from the laminate get a better quality underlay.There is some that is called Quiet Walk that is speced for alot of condos.

I use Roxul only as it is not supposed to burn.It isnt as itchy as the pink stuff also. I had a little fire in my shed once and as soon as it hit the Roxul it was out,have used nothing else since.

You will want to get as much of the residue off as most mortars dont stick to the glue.I have used Methyl Hydrate for this but the fumes are terrible.I have also used a citrus solution that works well it just takes longer.How bad is the residue?If it is just the residue from the peel and stick...
