    Vise Info Thread

Hit up an estate sale in north Jersey because of this 3 axis vise I wanted, ended up filling my truck with other stuff. Also grabbed this starrett no 1026 milling vise for 60 bucks, It's locked up right now, but should work out great when I clean it up. Paid a 100 for the 3 axis vise, been...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Got this Rock Island No 70 2.5" vise today in a hoarder house. Work for a local water department and had to do some work in the house, **** everywhere and smelled like dead cats. The new home owner was trashing everything and if I wanted anything I could take it. Saw the benchvise bolted to a...

    WW2 Era Tool Roll

Moved back to Pa and was going through my stuff and re found this tool roll I had in storage. I think I'll hang onto it and if I ever get a willys jeep, I'll have a tool roll for it. The Roll says: Motor Mechanics Tool Roll, Crawford MFG Co Inc, 1942

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Athol 734 swivel jaw vise I just finished cleaning up, has 5 inch jaw faces, opens 10 inches, and has a ratchet handle. Can't find another one anywhere, so I guess its rare, paid 180 bucks for it in rusty/old greasy condition, the most I've paid for a vise so far, I think I did ok though

Athol 734 5" swivel jaw vise

Cleaned her up, the swivel jaw operates very smoothly, the ratcheting mechanism doesn't really work, I think the gear faces are either locked up/frozen up in the handle. The lock down nut for the swivel base I took off my Colombian 604 1/2 vise since the parts seemed compatible and works fine...

Athol 734 5" swivel jaw vise

The jaw width is 5 inches, the max that I can open the vise before the main screw leaves the screw box is 10 inches, and the weight I'm not sure on since I don't have a scale, I'll post the weight when I get a scale

Athol 734 5" swivel jaw vise

Picked up this cool old vise a couple weeks ago at an estate sale, these are before pics, currently have her all apart, luckily the swivel jaw pin came out without issue. The only thing I'm missing that I can see is the locking lug/screw down handle, I'll probably end up fabricating something if...

Miller Falls no 2 Grind stone

Decided to hit up an estate sale today. First thing I always do is poke around in the basement and look for things potentially tucked away. Well that paid off, found this cast iron miller falls grind stone under the basement stairs. Looks to just be a little dusty and some light rust. Since it...

New process twist drill bit holder

saved this cool piece from the last day of an estate sale today, was covered in dust/dirt and tucked behind a tool cabinet (I got as well) in the garage. still have to get her all cleaned up, but not a bad find for taking the extra time to look around in the nooks and crannies of the garage.

    Wm Johnson Newark NJ Trowel

Found this old Wm Johnson Newark, NJ trowel at an estate sale yesterday and was wondering if anyone knew the approximate age of it? From what I've read, they sold the company to CS Osborne in 1938, so I'd guess this shovel was made some time prior to 1938 On another note, I'm surprised how well...
