Oh ok, didn't know that either, have you found a wire wheel that works well on this? So the tool rest be removed altogether and still operate grinder? any thoughts on why they went with a 1/2 spindle instead of 5/8 on such a stout grinder? Thanks.
Just picked up one of these beast. The thing is built to take a nuclear blast! Funny though, why build such a stout grinder only to use a 1/2" spindle rather than a 5/8"? Seems odd to me, any theories on this?
I have one of these, thing is built to take a nuclear blast! Strange though...for such a stout machine they chose to use a 1/2" spindle rather than a 5/8" ... never could figure out the logic there.
Just picked up a Walker Turner GR-35: 1/3 H.P. , 6" Wheel bench grinder....any idea what year it was manufactured? Not really that familiar with this brand, how were they for quality? ... Thanks, Froggy.
Just wondering if there is any difference (other than hp) between a 115.---- series 1/4 hp craftsman bench grinder and a 1/3 hp grinder? In other words...do all or most of the parts interchange? Thanks..
Well seeing this thing is over 100 years old I thought maybe the spring got removed from the screw at some point...I'm not that familiar with vintage vises. At the end of the screw is a collar that sits on the screw end and a set screw to hold said collar in place.
Disassembled it and noticed there is no spring to be found. It seems to work just fine and smooth. Should this vice have a spring? Only paid 20 bucks for it so I won't complain if I need to find a spring. Thanks, Joe.
