    Attaching diamond plate to drywall

I would use PVA primer to seal it all up before you hang the plate.

    Welder outlets

You got it right. 50 amp circuit is great for your machines. Just run the same plug on both welders and you got it. I run the same plug on all but the plasma cutter because it came with a different one. In the new garage it will be on it's own plug anyway, extension cord if needed to reach out.

    Install StovePipe/Direct Vent Now?

Really, no gas? I do not understand this. Maybe in your area it isn't affordable or something. I live in the land off hydroelectric and i couldn't afford electric heat in the shop. I am using a reznor with powered vent with a side wall exit. To answer the original question it is OK either way to...

    should I lose the fluorescents?

I second or third the idea of finding a lighting calculator. Some will describe what conditions = what type of bulbs. Then you plug in your dimensions and presto, you get a pretty good idea of how many fixtures, what bulbs, and what spacing to hang or install them.

    Flourescent lighting arrangement

If it helps I am lighting my 28x32 with 16 foot ceiling. I am using 16 four foot fixtures with Sylvania T-8 bulbs number 850, fixture is 32 watt. The bulbs are described as "noon day sun", to me they are about the most white I could get without getting into the "blue" end of the spectrum. I...

Replace main panel to reuse in garage?

I tend to agree with those who say to replace with new. While your at the point of disassembly you might as well do both panels. They would be new, up to code and the best quality if you go with a good name. I just put in a new 200 amp panel for the garage, along with the proper service...

    Underground Services and Trees

I feel uniquely qualified to respond as I own a tree company. I do work for many customers who have me remove trees encroaching on utilities. The usual is water or sewer. The problem with electrical is when you go for removal of the cute little tree that has grown out of control. To do a proper...

    Wire Size??

I just went 150 feet in a 2 1/2" schedule 40 PVC conduit. I am powering a 200 amp panel. I used 4/0 aluminum wire. I suggest you get a reference volume and do your research. You can get a pocket reference guide for about $20.00 at the electrical supply house. When you put wire in a PVC or other...

    Got a new lathe, 220 vs 110?

Exactly as the last poster says. Only concern is making sure your wire size is adequate as well as breaker for that circuit. I would suppose 20amp with #12 wire for something like that.

    Seperate meter or ???

Hope this helps. I just ran 150ft. of 4/0, 4/0, 2/0 for a 200 amp panel in my new garage. It is run through 2 1/2" PVC under ground. The meter base is a 320 meter base with a 3" mast, we will be running two 4,4,2's up to the weather head. The new meter base should line up almost perfectly to my...

Got some free lights, now I need a plan

For what it is worth I am using 16, two tube, T-8 fixtures in my shop. My dimensions are 28x32 with a 15.5 ceiling height. Four rows of four lights and four switches. I used a lighting calculator found on line. Although it did not have my exact dimensions available as a choice it was close. I...

    LED shop/garage lights

For an LED fixture that would replace a 4ft. fluorescent it was way too much. I bought 16 two tube fixtures for less than one LED. I am sickened by the fact that I will probably replace these with LED in the next 10 years as the price drops to reality.

    Attaching wire

Not exactly sure what wire that is but if you want it to be pretty you could use the plastic conduit called car-flex or maybe kar-flex. Or PVC conduit works well. I just put 150ft. plus of 4/0,4/0,2/0 under ground in a 2 1/2" PVC for my 200 amp sub in my garage. This was detailed to me by my...

    new slab questions

The sand he's referring to is not sand coming off, rather the content of sand in the cap area or thickness off the poor. In other words the finisher put the rock down farther and made the "cream coat" thicker for his convenience. I agree to put down densifier as well. I do not know how it works...
