Those are highly regarded clamps. I have a dozen or so and a couple are missing letters as well. May have been a casting flaw during the productions process, not uncommon from what I have seen.
I used to order from Kano Labs directly and they stopped shipping directly to consumers a few years ago. Grainger carries this too, but Advance is so much closer to me. I have had a great experience with this stuff and a little goes a long way.
I picked up this J.R. Wood Supply Co. index which is brass and I would date to the 20s or early 30s. I have not seen another one and thought it should be represented here.
Does the drill have a ground prong on the cord? Many times old tools do not have a grounding wire. It may be worth taking apart and finding what wiring is leaking and replacing some leads, or covering them with heat shrink tubing and then adding a grounding wire for insurance against future...

That's a model 1654. Check out OWWM plenty of info over there.

There is also a link to the manual under publications, look for 15 inch press info.
Nice drill press.
I just read that Snapon has filed a lawsuite against harbor freight because of similarities in appearance, etc. https://www.biztimes.com/2016/09/22/snap-on-suing-harbor-freight-over-floor-jacks/
