    Best place for electric motors

I would find a local motor repair shop. I bought a commercial compressor for next to nothing off of clist because the motor didn't work. I pulled the motor off and took it to a local shop. Only cost $90 for the fix. A new motor would have cost 1k

    Lifting a stick built garage?

Caddyman thanks. That link was shared on the first page. Thats how I will most likely lift my shop.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

My lift is going in the new garage. I wouldn't attempt to install it in my current shop, with the slab only being 4". Plus im sure its not high psi Crete.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

Yeah I think I'm leaning towards block for the reason you mentioned.

Thanks for the words of encouragement falcon. The slab was poured in 98 and seems to be in decent shape.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

And on the first page of the post, the link that was shared, the guy from canada is doing exactly what I want to do. Given we don't know whether he has a good slab or not. Im sure my buddies will steer me in the right direction as far as if I need footers , etc.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

I'm going to have my contractor and mason buddies come out and look at it and see what they think. I would like to avoid any masonry work if possible. This part of the shop will not have the lift in. And my new addition will be attached to the current shop, so I think I should be good. But I'm...

    Lifting a stick built garage?

It would be nice to have 12ft walls, but I could live with 10 footers. The current slab is in good shape, despite being only 4" thick. I need a door taller then 7ft, this is why I'd like to do this.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

So maybe save my money and have the slab demo'd, poor a footer, frost walls and a new slab?

    Lifting a stick built garage?

Correct, its a monolithic slab. Poured 4" all the way across. It should be alot thicker around the edges.

    Lifting a stick built garage?

I dont think block will work for my application, since I need the rear wall to remain all stick built, due to the future 40x40 addition. When I build my new shop, the back wall will be removed so I have a clear span to the new shop. Im going to be using a 16ft wide overhead door on the gable...

    Lifting a stick built garage?

The walls are only 2x4s. By cmu do you mean block?

    Lifting a stick built garage?

Sleek, that was the link I wanted. I remembered seeing it awhile back. Thanks

    Lifting a stick built garage?

I forgot to note this is going to be a spring job. My plan is using railroad ties for cribbing, either get two lvls to span the sidewalls and lift on the lvls and place the cribbing under the lvls. Or just use bumper jacks on the 2x6s to get it up high enough for bottle jacks, then slide 6x6s...

    Lifting a stick built garage?

Im in central pa. Yeah the garage has sheeting on it but the inside is open. Yeah the pony wall idea was only going to temporary till I got 12 footers scabbed in. I was thinking about just jacking it up and removing the bottom plate to avoid added cost, but didn't know how safe that would be. We...
