Well, maybe, but I don’t really see the difference between yours and mine. Mine looks so “aged” evenly that I don’t see there is any alteration on the end as you suggest.

Did that. Seems impossible that the jaws will ever meet without shortening the square tube on the dynamic jaw. As you can see in the second pic there is an insert in the end of the static jaw side that is retained with 2 roll pins. Without the dynamic jaw, the “screw” will screw out further...

No, not the pipe jaws. The main jaws lack about 1/2” coming together.

I recently picked up a Wilton 746 that needs a little attention (I hope a little). The jaws will not fully close…by about a half inch. What’s the deal with that? I’ve fully removed the moving jaw and provided pics for what that’s worth. Also, this vice has 2 lock downs on the rotation. Why...

Saw this on a small Vice had no name but did have an emblem on the side. Another distinguishing characteristic of this vice, even though it doesn’t show up well in the pics is that it has a triangular bar/slide where most are square or rectangular, round or square. Thank!

I saw this axe in an antique shop today but it was labeled as “hand forged axe” which to me says the owner didn’t see what I did stamped on the side of the axe…”Hurd’s”. Part of the reason they didn’t see the branding is that there is quite a bit of pitting. My questions are how old is an axe...

I picked up these drill bits at an estate sale recently. They still have bits inside. My guess is these bits far exceed the quality of most modern day bits! Any way to date these items? How uncommon is it to have these original sleeves? Thanks in advance…
