    Insulation against the roof?

Is it okay to have fiberglass batt insulation against the underside of my roof? Do I need a small air barrier separating the two? I am redoing a small room on the back of my house. It is an enclosed porch that is maybe 10 or 12 years old. Walls wre insulated, but the roof not so much. It does...

    Detached garage heater advice?

Hey all, I need a little advice from those more experience than myself. First off, I have a 24x32 block garage that is uninsulated. It is roughly 45 feet from my house. I had a torpedo heater, but is acting up and kerosene is through the roof price wise. I am now looking for a new heat source...

Bought a locked up Holland vise...

Measured out to 116 inched long and 41 deep. It was made by George Koch and sons industrial equipment division. They are based out of Evansville Indiana which is about 30 minutes from my house. It came out of a ConocoPhillips station in the 60's. I'll try and nab a pic of it in the a.m.

Bought a locked up Holland vise...

I actually picked it up in Fremont, Ohio while up there on business. Saw the auction sign and figured I would stop in. Not sure on weight but jaw width is 4.5 inch. Plan is to get it cleaned up and paint the original colors.

Bought a locked up Holland vise...

Hey guys. Just recently I picked up an old Holland vise at auction. Locked up and looked like it had been outside for quite some time. Looks to say 14 1/2? Opens to 9 inches. Got it working again and I only have 12.50 into it so far. I have to say that once it broke loose, that this vise is...

If you had a $15,000 Gift Card to any tool company, which would it be, and what...

I would probably go with miller. I would get nice mig setup, tig setup, stick setup. Oh, and a plasma cutter. Am I at 15k yet? Maybe throw a spot welder in there and a torch setup. If amything left over, buy consumables.

Do you use sockets over 1 1/4" for general automotive/truck?

Biggest I regularly use in the home shop is 54 mm and/or 2&1/8. I use them on axle nuts for 4wd pickups. I skip the impact. Usually a 5 foot cheater pipe gets it done. Of course, anything above 36 mm is 3/4 drive for me.

    Old school metal crack repair

Hey, trying to find a thread I saw on here awhile ago. It was a way to repair a crack in metal. You drilled evenly spaced holes in the crack and put metal inserts in it. Grind them flush, and then offset the next set of holes. Repeat the process until the crack is filled. Anyone know what this...

    Torpedo heater help

I cleaned the flame sensor. Cad cell type. It ran for 18 minutes this time before doing the same thing. Checked air and fuel filters, both good to go. I will check the nozzle when I get home.

Need a little help troubleshooting my shop heater. It is a mr. Heater brand 175k btu forced air heater. I have kerosene in it. It is the contractor series. I can start from cold and it runs fine for about 10 minutes. Then it starts putting out smoke and quits. Diagnostic light on the side...
