Re: Anybody else not doing projects due to cost of lumber?
I’ve got a whole list of stuff around the farm that’s not getting done because Of lumber prices. I’m just glad I resheeted a few barns last spring before prices surged.
I’ve got one of the barter Schumacher lithium boosters that I keep on the boat. It’s saved me a few times on the water. I keep a noco in my Durango and another Schumacher in my wife’s Mazda. No complaints about any of them.
What sort of climate are you dealing with? A metal container would be awful without ventilation. If you have a window or two and can open the door on one end it’ll help with air movement and make it tolerable. My shop has a metal roof and in the summer it’s only tolerable if I open the doors...
I just cleared 1100lbs of “garbage” out of my barn, then another 3000lbs of scrap. I feel a lot better when I walk in there and i feel like I can get some stuff accomplished with all the extra room.
Bonus, I found the stuff I bought for projects and couldn’t find.
Taking apart a Michigan truck probably requires equal parts air compressor and welder. A compressor to run a good impact to tear bolts out that have rusted in place. A welder to remove the bolts you break and patch holes :)
i was without both of mine for a few months when I first bought this house and didn't have power to my shop yet. I found myself needing the compressor quite a bit, and the welder just a few times.
Of course, none of my projects were in any sort of shape where I needed to weld on them.
I'm happy with my porter cable 18v set I bought about 5 years ago. I'm not happy I can't get a battery for the things anymore though.
I was going to grab the higher cap lithium battery they used to carry at Lowe's, and I can't find the thing anymore.
I read the reviews on that stuff earlier. It looks like something I can give a try when the weather warms up a little bit around here. Thanks for the input.
I'm hoping for a couple year solution. I need to get a floor poured in the other barn and move everything over there. I'll have room for a lift and whatnots over there.
I was thinking about pulling the nails and screwing the panels down again. There's a 1 pitch on the side wings of the building, and I had considered trying to raise it if I was going to re roof completely. They're just 2x10s sitting on a beam on the inside of the structure. It probably...
