    Rebuilt my air system

Thanks. I had the parts sitting around for a couple of years to plumb this in better and finally got around to it. It is sooo nice now to just pull down the hose from the reel, throw on the valve, and use the air. Then just reel it up. No more hoses on the floor to trip over!!

    Rebuilt my air system

Well, I finally got around to redoing my air system in the garage. All 1/2" copper to a coalescer, dual filters, regulator and up to a reel and a drop for my milling machine. The milling machine uses a air assist on the knee to make it easier to lift the 11" x 58" table. It is a beast of a...

Black or Copper pipe for Air Compresor

Now that is a good argument for copper. I ran copper for my garage. No rust, no flakes, no ALGAE. Algae forms in plastic AND iron lines, and you have rust in iron lines. For some reason people think that since iron is used successfully in natural gas lines, it would be good for compressed...

Yep. Change it. Brown is more than likely algae. The algaecide has broken down.

Such a thing as too many tools?

After 40 years of buying tools whenever I need them to do a job, and then the ungodly number of presents given to me, I say absolutely yes, you can have too many tools. However, I have too many tools for the jobs that I am currently involved in. BUT, That may very well change week to week...

    Garage + Tools = Freeloaders?

I say nope to the moochers. I've got only so many hours of useful energy and time. I reserve that for my family only. The last time that anyone that I know aside from family offered to help me with ANYTHING, was never. As far as borrowing tools? Fat chance. I had one too many *******...

What to look for in a bench grinder

I recently picked up the Jet 8" bench grinder. The thing has power to spare. Hard to bog down. it is even more powerful than my Baldor 8" and takes the same wheels. For about $200 on amazon with free shipping it is a heck of a deal. The Cast iron guards, while not as thick as a Baldor, are...

How often do you use your shop press?

I use mine several times a year. It is a Harbor freight 20 ton. I added the air powered jack to it, A Swag Off Road HD finger press brake, Swag adjustable v-die, goose neck dies, and a set of Swag arbor plates. With all that, it is a pretty versatile machine. The funny thing is that the...
