    Racedeck/Garagetrac help

Can you rip down a couple pieces of freeflow tiles or some other support structure to level it out more and tile over that with freeflow?

My Dreamspace-2982sqft Shop/Garage/Hobby Epicenter in Wisconsin

This is so cool. I bet if you ran some 1x2 pine along the studs on that canvas it would turn out really polished. Maybe stain it to match the reclaimed wood?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Turned wrenches for the first time on my new-to-me truck. Pulled off the leveling kit that my uncle (the previous owner) had put on since I prefer it to have stock suspension. Lifting this behemoth with my floor jack, I could tell that it's a LOT heavier than anything I'd tried to lift before...

    The importance of PPE!

I doubt a ricochet would have enough speed to imbed itself in safety glasses. It would have still done damage to his eye, but would have just bounced off the glasses. This guy was either not running a guard or was standing on the wrong side of it.

    The importance of PPE!

Any kind of solid steel is going to be a pain with a recip saw. I had to cut off 1/2" bolts that were sheathed in 1.5" OD sleeves on my Jeep. They ate up saw blades and barely got touched. I ended up using a 9" cutoff wheel and oversized grinder to finish that job.

    Help with shed ramp ideas

I built a ramp out of GC 2x12. Ripped 4 foot lengths diagonally into triangles and decked it with 5/4 x 6 deck boards horizontally. Ended up being a ~12" rise over 48" (3:12 slope), but because the deck boards are horizontal, they end up being great for grip. I've never had an issue with grip...

    Sun hitting garage door sensors

Be aware, swapping sides is a wiring pain AND it'll just swap the time of day when this happens. I'll sometimes have issues in the mornings. Neighbors across the street will sometimes have issues in the evenings. YMMV.

    Garage Cabinets

I think he meant that the top shelves of those cabinets in your sketchup are going to be 8+ feet in the air and you won't be able to reach anything on them. Might as well go with shorter cabinets and store infrequently used items on top of them.

    lever calculations

800 lbs, plus friction in the fulcrum, plus the weight of the 16' length multiplied by the distance to its center of mass (~8') minus the weight of the 4' length multiplied the distance to its center of mass (~2') times your mechanical advantage (1:4 or 0.25).

    lever calculations

The point of a lever is to provide mechanical advantage. What's your goal? Is it to be able to lift the 200 pounds with 50 pounds of force? Is it to counterbalance the weight? Do you need to lift 16' exactly or can you overshoot? Your max height should be a bit more than 16' to account for...

RaceDeck owners - Daily Use & Long term wear?

I have half of my garage freeflow (under the wife's DD) and half diamond tread (under my Jeep so I can keep an eye on any fluid leaks and it's easier on the knees when working on it). My racedeck has been down for about 14 months now and here's my unbiased review: - Freeflow is everything it's...

Harbor Freight 12 Ton Jack Stands

Help my 240 stelpro unit stopped working

Is it common for these things to actually trip breakers? Having too big of a breaker shouldn't be an issue unless you have a short of some kind causing excess power draw and even then, having a smaller breaker isn't going to save the unit.

    The Ultimate Shop Safety Thread

If the surface you're trying to support your vehicle on isn't flat enough to prevent a 4-legged jack stand from rocking, you need to think long and hard about why you're jacking up and getting under your vehicle in that location.
