This is my set of Starrett tools. The combination square belonged to my Great-Grandfather. He was a pattern maker in the first half of the 20th century so these are likely around a hundred years old. They work as well today as they did when new I’m sure.
Buffalo with modifications
I got this old Buffalo drill press for free. Just had to pick it up, which is no small feat. It weighs a ton. It works great. Maybe some day I will restore it.
This is an early 1950's vintage Stanley #4 smoothing plane. I got it for $5.00 with a broken handle. I repaired the handle and cleaned up the metal parts. It looks very cool with the pitina left on it. I am an Architectural Millworker by trade and I restored this plane to put it back to work...
I got this vintage Buffalo drill press a few years ago for free. A lady had it, it was her exhusband's and she couldn't find a buyer. All I had to do was pick it up. It weighs a ton!
I thought the counterweight might be DIY myself. The pulley and the tab where the cable attaches to the head of the machine sure look factory though. I've not seen another one that has the coolant moat around the table either.
I got this Buffalo drill press a few years ago. It runs great and works perfectly. I'm curious to see if anyone knows about this machine. I cannot find a model # anywhere on it. I would love to know more about the possible age and details of this machine.
