Oil pan caved in and the crank was tapping.

If they did not want to fix the car. They should have just told the owner that they did not want to work on it. They have open the can of worms. They did something to the car, and they did not do a correct repair. If this was my shop, that tech would be down the road. If you want a bad name, its...

    Garage thermostat

The reason your thermostat won't work under 32 degrees is that they used regular ic parts that are rated 0 to 70 degrees C , which is 32 degrees F. It is just another built in china to the cheapest price. Honeywell is not a top company anymore.

    Rewiring an old Garage

The truss on the end of a roof is not build the same as the rest of the trusses. It is not a free span no support truss. It needs the same support as regular framing. Jeff

heating my shop with used motor oil

Well I think we need more information from you. What is the temp of your oil before the heater block, are you preheating it. If it is cold and not preheated two reasons come to mind for it not lighting up. First the oil may to thick to siphon up the supply tube. Second the heater block may not...

heating my shop with used motor oil

Yes My compressor cycles, on more than off. It is not as noisy as the one you have. I don't know what temp my air out is actually at, but it is better that it was at first. At first it would sometimes shut the blower down because the fan switch would cool off to much. There is a safety switch to...

heating my shop with used motor oil

Hi your furnace with out duct work has no load on the blower fan. It will move the air to fast though the heat exchanger. I did the same. I changed my fan to medium speed. I was lucky that it was a three speed fan. If your's is't try cutting down on the air inlet opening Jeff

Operational Costs Natural Gas vs. Electric

You are so right. I have dual fuel electric and propane. Because of this my electric for heat is .056kw,but right now my propane supplier wants 2.18 per gallon and then there is the delivery charge and the hazmat fee. I wish I could have nat gas, but i am in the country with no pipe lines...

    insulating the ceiling ?'s r19 or r30

I agree use the R19. Also if you can put down a layer of foam board on the top. This makes a very nice cover over the glass and also adds to the insulation value. Jeff

    cheap heat

Well a electric hot water heater is either 2500 watts or 4500 watts, There are some that are 5000 to 5500 watts. Most in my area are 4500 watts. 1000 watts equals about 3500 btu, so a water heater is about 15,750 btu if it is the 4500 watt type. That said there is most of the time two heat...
