It suddenly makes loud hums and not spinning. I have tried hand spin it to help start, but no go. I felt a strong resistent. Replaced the capacitor and the problem persists. 1) noticed that The motor shaft is very hard to spin even if it's disconnected from the power. is it normal? 2) is this...

Help: vintage drill press quill spring repair

I am restoring two drill presses- both quill springs are broken. 1) Walker-Turner 900- needs to drill two holes (kinda snowman shape, so the spring end get hooked on the feed pinion end pin), but the spring seems very hard metal and failed to even make scratches using drill press (tried HSS...

info needed Walker-Turner and Delta-Rockwell drill press- Parts Compatibility

Ohh, that is feasible, because both vendors use 2-3/4" OD column for light/medium duty and 3-3/4" OD column for heavy duty DP.

OP here- my rationale for the question was that are there any known compatibility in Quill between vendors?

@cnc-me mine is 15", not 14" nor 20" (i wish it is) :) Your drill press appears 1100 series. Mine is 1300 series (6" quill travel) and I believe all 1300 series are 15" with 2-3/4" column OD. 20" W-T/Rockwell has 3-3/4" column OD, I think.

    South Bend drill press

@devrep great looking DP- The quill lock knob looks different from other SB DP. It could be a variant I have not seen before, or PO has changed it. Also, "on" is down position- indicating it being the one of earlier versions. BTW, is the Quill MT2?

Walker Turner 1216-42 Drill press help

I am restoring for a hobby shop use, not a museum piece per se, so $60 for vintage power switch is no-go for me LOL. I've found that the spindle bearings are no longer available in mass-market products (and the custom bearing price is ridiculous). I have decided to reuse the original bearings-...

info needed Walker-Turner and Delta-Rockwell drill press- Parts Compatibility

I'd like to get opinions/observations from Walker-Turner and Delta-Rockwell drill press users: Recently, I have acquired a Walker-Turner Drill Press- no model number imprinted on the label but I am assuming 1300 series due to 6" quill travel capacity. When I took apart the spindle pulley to...

South Bend drill press "Precision Model" (added another drill press December 2024)

I recall someone mentioned that the new design could introduce another source of error from the backlash in the new design. Have you noticed the improvement (or not significant)? From the photo you have uploaded, I see that the belt is 4L300 for spindle/MSA. What is the belt size between...

BALDOR model 66, 3/4-HP, 115/230v - STREAMCOOLED - single phase Repulsion Induction Motor with Ball Bearings. A Baldor motor (dated 1951) came with the purchase of Boice-Crane 2610 Drill Press. Based on the instruction leaflet inside of the electrical box mounted on the motor, I am assuming it...
