I was recently given this drill press for free I have managed to remove most of the stuck parts except for the quill, it is completely stuck inside the head of the drill press...

What I'm wondering is if this bearing guide right here at the top of the head can be removed, that way I can have better access to the top of this quill

Okay I finally got the quill out after using a pipe wrench for the pair of vise grips clamped on the back and then a piece of pipe and it finally moved...

@FordMustangKingCobra Glad to see you making progress. is it fully operational now?
Not quite I'm just about to start putting it back together I figured I'm going to wait to paint it before I know it's fully functioning, and then I'll paint it further down the road, but I still need some parts for it to make it fully operational I found a few of the parts I need on eBay one of them is the original power switch and I don't know about you but $60 seems a little ridiculous for a vintage power switch, the other two pieces are like 20 bucks and then there's a bearing I need for the spindle

I am restoring for a hobby shop use, not a museum piece per se, so $60 for vintage power switch is no-go for me LOL.

I've found that the spindle bearings are no longer available in mass-market products (and the custom bearing price is ridiculous). I have decided to reuse the original bearings- soaked overnight in a grease remover and cleaned up with "light" compressed-air, then re-grease. What are you planning to do?

Well one of the bearings which is on the spindle closest to the check the outer bearing race was cracked, so i guess I'll have to find a replacement.
All of the other bearings I've cleaned up and they seem good I'm just going to put some grease in them and call it a day

You might be a redneck if:

I mean that in the best of ways/

I used a '70s Toyota scissors jack to get the head off of my DP:

Whatever works, bro!

Okay so it looks like I may have found a replacement bearing that should fit the spindle and quill, it is a 1623-2rs or the other one would be a 99502h-2rs it is literally exactly the same bearing size wise by my measurements.

Alright, guys. I know it's been a while since I last posted an update. But I have since got the spindle to move up and down smoothly the head and table now move up and down smoothly, i have acquired the correct power switch, and an oiler cap for the top
And the motor mounting frame, now I gotta figure out what type of the frame actually fits this drill press because a number 48 frame is too small..
