    HF 44" casters

Good point - 3 inches seems a little short for a box if you intend to move it a decent amount of times. I bet it is 1000lb combined. The weight on the 44" box says 270 unloaded, and I wouldn't think "homeowner stuff" would add up to more than 630lbs. I've been brainstorming a steevo type...

    HF 44" casters

Would these be strong enough (remove from the dolly, mount to box)? http://www.harborfreight.com/movers-dolly-93888.html 1000lbs allegedly. Not sure how have a box reasonably full of tools would be.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here's my garage sale find. I really know nothing about it, other than the Dawn brand seems to be from Australia. The guy I got it from was a pipefitter and fabricator with a pretty decent home shop - I took his benches and some cabinets too. The vice was mounted as you see on this bench (and...

    Which vise to paint/mount?

thanks for the feedback! I'll be (soonish) welding up a "bottom" for the benches and once that's done, they're getting bolted to wall studs. I thought about the paint on the slide and the base where it rotates - but since I know I won't use it that much I wasn't worried. Although i'd love to...

    Which vise to paint/mount?

Well, here she is all painted up! Im not head over heels with the way the color turned out, but i do love having it cleaned up and ready to roll...

    Which vise to paint/mount?

Ok I was thinking of just using some simple green and a cloth to clean up the stuff on the screw and guide now and then going back with maybe some of that Lucas red n tacky as mentioned above. I totally understand that while it is a lubricant it will also catch and hold any filings or junk...

    Which vise to paint/mount?

thanks guys! Progress so far - just used some aircraft remover and a little wirebrush/scraper by hand. Baby was asleep so wirewheel will have to wait. Cleaned up pretty good though - but I'm still not certain on paint color. I was thinking the safety red maybe to match the...

    Which vise to paint/mount?

So I've got these two vises and I'm pretty torn on which to actually mount. My bench came with the big dawn vise (6" jaw) and my uncle gave me the made in USA 4" one. Both appear to work just fine, especially for me as an average joe homeowner. I think I've got enough workspace for either...

Let's see a picture of your workbench - Right Now!

But what if I just finished up painting mine? I'm going Steevo-style but in a temp fashion for now - rolling the boxes under the benches. Later I'll get a welder and get srong casters to unite them, but as two separate units.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Started stripping one of two steel benches I got. I think i'll end up just clear coating the top and keep a bit of that patina. I want to wirewheel it (used aircraft remover to get the paint 90% gone) so we'll see how it looks after that and go from there. Bottom section will be a (hopeful)...

    3+ stall addition

Stone's indeed got some good stuff - you can get some of it in Illinois for sure, or at least you could....I bought some last summer.

Got the refinished cabinets up on the wall

    Scored some metal cabinets

Well, they're up! Still tinkering with what will go where and what to do with the space beneath the taller one. And the benches will get started soon too, but that's about where they will be.
