1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

Saw a FB post today from a company providing vintage Delta parts: https://vintagedeltasupply.com/ They also apparently provide new cast dust chutes and similar.

Looking for a quality benchtop mill

I had a round column RF31 clone for 15 years that served me well (pics below, I still have a soft spot in my heart for that machine). I learned to machine on that mill, then sold it for what I paid after 15 years, when I bought a used Bridgeport. Yes, it will lose registration if you have to...

Directional boring? Anyone DIY a conduit under a drive/road?

What about diy trenching and dropping in an approved culvert?

Came with the cast part, but I seem to recall seeing them among shop vac adapters.

1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

Found some pics of my cast aluminum DS21 dust chute (below). I think I paid more than you did so you did well. The ****** fits a 2-1/2" shop vac hose. It vastly minimizes the dust thrown into the air. I recommend using it all the time.

1920-60s DELTA / ROCKWELL picture thread - Post your Delta!

Did you have to remortgage the house? :) There was a guy in Freeland, Michigan that sold and serviced vintage Delta equipment and manufactured replacement parts. He had cast aluminum replacement for these chutes a few years ago. I bought one. They look, fit and work just like the original...

Old Vice How were the vice handles finished on the ends

I have an old woodworkers vise similar to to lilredex's, on my dad's old wood working bench. The original handle was made from plumbing pipe and caps like lilredex's and I was always pinching my fingers under the caps when I was a kid. Apparently my dad was also because I noticed one day...

    Pimping my shop vac

You've probably heard of "pimp my ride"? An acquaintance of mine once told me that he and his teenage son were "pimping" juniors moped. Well I'm going to pimp my shop vac. I have a nice Ridgid NXT shop vac (pic below) But it's a nuisance to keep the footprint minimal when I drag it around my...

Rodent proof garage door bottom seal

The bottom seal of my main garage door spans one of the contraction joints in the floor (pic below) and mice are chewing the seal and using it as ingress (and presumably egress). Is anyone aware of a "rodent proof" seal and how to "bolster" the contraction joint to prevent such activity? I...

    Shop Stairs for Second Level

My 28ft x 30ft detached garage shop has a full 2nd story (12:12 roof pitch with attic trusses) with an enclosed staircase (pics below). The 1st floor is nicely insulated and finished and is climate controlled, but the 2nd story is not (yet). The straight-shot staircase is 36in wide, climbs...

    Ceiling Fan Shop?

I have a Hampton Bay 54-inch ceiling fan (no light, wired control) in my 28ft x 30ft x 10ft shop, purchased from one of the home supply big box stores (can't remember which). The fan runs 24/7 and has done so for 13 years now. The blades are "aerodynamic", meaning efficiently twisted like a...

Care and feeding of a bench vise

I have a 25-year old 6-1/2" Craftsman that I like but it was "growling" badly when I turned the screw. I tried lubing the screw and the "ways" which helped but not for long. Then I spun the screw all the way out and removed the movable jaw, propped it up vertically on the bench and squirted oil...

Craftsman 100 Drill Press Column Rusted In Place

My approach also. Mrpete222 has a multipart video currently about installing a linear transducer as a table lift on an old drill press. The column was rusted into the base badly. It took some real effort for him to hammer the base off the column.

1947 Delta 12" Disc Sander Restoration

I suspect the fisc mounting hole bolt pattern has an offset. Glad you got it sorted.
